The world of comic books is constantly evolving, with new issues appearing weekly from many different publishers and creators, each striving to tell unique stories. Marvel Comics is a prime example of this. Just last May, Marvel released fifty-one new comics as part of twenty-two ongoing series and twenty-nine limited runs, all contributing to the vast universes where iconic heroes and villains live. Many storylines progressed, concluded, or took unexpected turns. While some of these comics will have a lasting impact on the Marvel Universe, and others won’t, it can be difficult to predict which ones will truly matter.
It’s tough to keep up with all the comics released each month, especially with limited time and money. With so many options, choosing what to read can be overwhelming. We’re here to help! We’ve reviewed all of Marvel’s May 2026 releases and picked out the five best. These are truly the top titles, and if you only have time for one Marvel comic this month, you should definitely choose from this list.
5) Fantastic Four (2025) #11

This issue dealt with the aftermath of the “Invincible Woman” storyline and the Fantastic Four brainstorming ideas for a revamped Future Foundation. Reed, Sue, and Johnny clashed over their visions, almost causing a family feud. However, the core of the story focused on Ben Grimm, who understood what the Future Foundation truly needed to become a force for good. It was a character-driven issue, exploring complex emotions with the thoughtful approach and hopeful tone that both the Thing and writer Ryan North are known for. Expect to finish this issue with a smile.
4) Cyclops (2026) #4

Even without his visor and effectively blind, Cyclops remains a formidable force. This issue features an unexpected alliance between Cyclops and the Reaver, Tearjerker, who has a funny dynamic – he’s clearly scared of Cyclops but isn’t afraid to point out Cyclops’ ruthless side. Scott Summers truly shines, showcasing his brilliant strategy and quick thinking as he easily defeats the Reavers. We also see Mei stepping up and taking initiative to protect her fellow mutants from a massive new threat. If you enjoy seeing Cyclops assert his leadership and tactical prowess, you’ll love this series.
3) Mortal Thor #10

I’m consistently impressed with Mortal Thor, and this issue is no different. The story of Sigurd Jarlson really takes off as he attacks the skyscraper where his enemies are hiding. Despite being just a man, Sigurd overcomes increasingly dangerous obstacles with determination, ingenuity, luck, and his trusty hammer. Pasqual Ferry’s artwork makes every hit feel powerful, realistic, and intense. The violence is impactful and exciting without being excessive or gratuitous. Sigurd’s adventure is only going to get more chaotic, and it promises to be thrilling until the very end.
2) Captain America (2025) #11

This issue of Captain America’s battle for Latveria delivered a thrilling and impactful conclusion. It was packed with action, mystery, and surprises – from the emergence of a Doctor Doom clone and the threat of General Ross’s Hulk army, to the unexpected arrival of another Captain America. Throughout it all, the story balanced huge themes of global power and colonialism with Steve Rogers’ unwavering commitment to saving lives and his willingness to sacrifice everything for others. The ending was both heartbreaking and captivating, leaving me eager to find out how it connects to the upcoming Armageddon event that will impact the entire Marvel Universe.
1) Marc Spector: Moon Knight (2026) #4

This Moon Knight comic isn’t just enjoyable – it’s truly special and could become a classic. After escaping a two-week captivity by his enemies, Marc discovers all his friends and allies have vanished into a strange, ever-growing haunted house that’s consuming people. The suspense is expertly built, but what really makes this comic stand out is the incredible artwork. Dev Pramanik’s detailed pencils and Rachelle Rosenberg’s vibrant colors combine to create a visually stunning experience that surpasses anything else Marvel is currently publishing. I found myself pausing repeatedly just to appreciate the beautiful imagery – it’s a true work of art.
