Xbox Will Show PS5 Logos at Showcase, But May Adjust Moving Forward as Execs Publicly Contradict Each Other

Update [Sat 30th May 2026, 2am]:

In a surprising turn of events, the new head of Xbox, Asha Sharma, has walked back comments made earlier by Matt Booty, stating they weren’t quite right.

In an Xbox podcast, Matt Booty explained that Microsoft will be upfront about which gaming platforms will get new games, and that they plan to follow the pattern they’ve established in the past.

This means if a game is coming to the PS5, Microsoft won’t obfuscate that information.

Sony and Nintendo usually focus their announcements on their own consoles during presentations. Unlike Microsoft, they haven’t often released games on platforms other than their own.

Responding to aggrieved fans on X (or Twitter), however, Sharma describing this as a “miss”.

She said:

We received feedback on the logos, and it wasn’t good – I take full responsibility. We’re now discussing how to improve things for future Xbox presentations.

I’m a little surprised Sharma is letting the opinions of a small number of fans on social media influence things so much, but that’s where we’re at. Hopefully, the manufacturer will remember this when they do their next live stream.

There’s been some discussion today that Microsoft might not display PlayStation 5 logos at its Xbox Showcase next week, possibly because of questions about whether certain games will be exclusive to Xbox.

The broadcast on June 7th will feature a mix of games from both its own studios and other developers, including Halo: Campaign Evolved and Fable. Both of these titles are confirmed to be coming to PlayStation 5 and will be available on the same day they launch on other platforms.

I noticed some people speculating that Microsoft might try to satisfy its dedicated fans by taking those logos off their live broadcast.

That, according to Chief Content Officer Matt Booty, is not the case.

He said during a podcast:

We’re committed to clearly announcing which gaming systems each game will be released on, and we plan to keep doing things the way we have been. We believe our current approach of revealing this information during our showcases works well.

A major point of discussion could be which games don’t show they’re compatible with the PlayStation 5, such as the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day.

Microsoft hasn’t officially said whether the upcoming shooter will be available on PlayStation, and if they’re changing their strategy to focus on games exclusive to their own platforms, removing the PlayStation 5 logo from the game’s trailer could be a clear indication of that shift.

However, Booty also mentioned Microsoft won’t be revealing any major plans during the livestream, so don’t anticipate them confirming or denying much.
