Contrary to rumors suggesting that the lead singer of Genesis was under hospice care, his representative has dismissed such health-related concerns.

In response to queries, a representative for Phil clarified that he is currently in the hospital due to recuperation following a knee operation. Contrary to speculation, there is no truth to reports suggesting a terminal illness. (This statement was made to People.)

Six months ago, the drummer revealed that his recent struggles with music were due to long-term health problems stemming from a 2007 spinal injury which caused severe nerve damage that has continued to deteriorate. Now, we have a new development on this matter.

He shared with MOJO magazine in February that he often finds himself pondering a trip to the studio downstairs to see what might transpire. However, he’s lost his appetite for it. The truth is, he’s been extremely ill recently.

Despite understanding that his deteriorating health required him to give up drumming, making this acceptance was still challenging for him.

In his December 2024 documentary titled “Phil Collins: Drummer First“, Phil candidly acknowledged, “It’s only now starting to feel real.” After dedicating his entire life to drumming, the sudden inability to continue doing so came as quite a surprise.

He added, “If I’m unable to perform as well as I once did, I’d prefer to take it easy and not attempt anything. If one day I find myself capable of holding drumsticks again, then I might give it a go. But right now, I feel like I’ve exhausted all my energy reserves.

Observing his father’s deterioration serves as a warning for Nic, both son and fellow drummer, about potential challenges he might face in the future.

In the documentary, Nic said, “I can use that as a learning opportunity. However, each time I reassemble the setup, I need to approach it differently since I can’t follow the same path.
