Currently being filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, the production team tried to keep details under wraps, but fans have already captured glimpses of David Corenswet as Superman flying above the city and a mysterious character (likely Brainiac or Lex Luthor) launching stunt performers through the air.
Given the leaks and fan-taken videos, it makes sense James Gunn wanted to release an official photo before fans scrutinized the set footage. In the past, fans have often quickly formed opinions on costumes based on blurry, poorly lit photos from the set. By releasing a clear studio photo of Lex in the suit now, it turns speculation into excitement rather than concern.

Fans who were present during both filming nights are starting to understand how director James Gunn is assembling the movie. Initially, viewers thought Superman was battling Brainiac, based on a clip of a mysterious figure seemingly attacking people. However, recent footage suggests the scene actually shows a fight between Superman and Lex Luthor, who appears to be wearing a powerful suit of armor. This conclusion comes from seeing David Corenswet (Superman) near the location where previous footage showed Luthor trying to fly away.
The final movie could still change things, but it’s highly likely Superman and Lex Luthor will have some kind of conflict. While it looks like they’re fighting in some scenes, it’s possible Lex (or his technology) is actually being controlled by Brainiac, or even that they’re teaming up – the way the footage is presented might just make it seem like a fight. Regardless, a showdown between Superman and Luthor is almost guaranteed, so the simplest explanation is probably the correct one until we see more.
