Christina Chong Drops Very Personal Tease For Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4

Christina Chong has hinted that a close family member of her character will be featured in season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The new season, which will be the last with a full 10 episodes, will begin streaming on Paramount+ on July 23rd.

The trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 suggests we’ll see more of the classic Star Trek style of exploring space and meeting new alien civilizations – fitting with the show’s title. But like Season 3, Season 4 will also take creative risks with bold and unusual storytelling approaches.

Instagram user @confusedgrogu recently posted an interview with Christina Chong from FedCon ’26 in Germany. Chong described season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as the best season so far, and revealed that episode 9 was both the most challenging and most enjoyable she’s ever filmed. She playfully suggested a close friend or loved one appears in the episode. You can watch the full interview here:

Okay, so I’m getting the feeling Christina is playfully suggesting her favorite guest star is actually her dog, Runa Ewok! Apparently, Runa was a regular on the set of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and even had a little cameo in season one, episode eight, “The Elysian Kingdom.” And how cute is this – Runa’s currently helping raise money for Darwin Dogs in the UK. What a good girl!

Christina Chong has hinted at a special appearance in season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and many fans believe Runa Ewok might be the character. However, it’s also possible this guest star is someone Christina knows in real life. We’ll find out for sure when season 4, episode 9 premieres on Paramount+ in September.

As a huge fan, I totally agree with Christina Chong – Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is incredible! It’s awesome to hear that Rebecca Romijn, Celia Rose Gooding, and even Akiva Goldsman, one of the show’s creators, feel the same way. I was especially fascinated to learn he’d tried to get William Shatner to make a guest appearance – that would have been amazing!

Akiva Goldsman also revealed that season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will particularly highlight characters who weren’t featured in Star Trek: The Original Series, such as Lieutenant La’an Noonien-Singh, played by Christina Chong.

Christina Chong is a skilled musician who has released original songs alongside the second and third seasons of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. It remains to be seen if she’ll create more music for the show’s fourth season.

As a huge Star Trek: Strange New Worlds fan, I’m really excited about what Season 4 is bringing! They’re taking some bold risks, like an episode featuring puppets created by The Jim Henson Company – seriously cool! And it doesn’t stop there; we’re getting a Western-themed episode, a planet full of dinosaurs, and now, episode 9 is especially meaningful to Christina Chong, which makes me even more eager to see it. It sounds like they’re really pushing the boundaries of what a Star Trek episode can be.
