With the first weekend of June here, Hulu has a great selection of new movies to choose from. Here are three recommendations to get you started. Hulu is a long-standing streaming service, first launched in 2007, and it remains as popular today as it ever was.
Hulu is best known for its TV shows, but it also has a great selection of movies. Since Disney owns part of Hulu, you’ll find many Disney films – and movies from its other studios – available to stream. From big-budget hits to smaller independent films, Hulu offers a wide variety of movies for all tastes.
Hulu doesn’t have as many movies as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, but it still offers a good selection. The available movies change every month, which can make it hard to choose something to watch. Fortunately, most of the movies currently on Hulu are enjoyable.
This weekend’s movie recommendations are a bit of everything! We’ve got three films – a classic action movie from the 90s, a fun and unique period piece from the 2000s, and a fantastic new horror film that was a big hit in theaters earlier this year.
3. Con Air (1997)
The 1990s were full of over-the-top action movies, and Con Air perfectly captures that spirit. This film stars Nicolas Cage as a man on a cargo plane full of dangerous criminals. When a serial killer tries to break free, it’s up to Cage’s character, a recently paroled convict, to stop him. Cage really shines in this wildly entertaining role.
The supporting actors are all solid, and Con Air has moments of genuine cleverness that make it better than a typical cheesy action movie. However, its biggest strength is that it’s just a fun, escapist blockbuster. You can watch it now on Hulu – it’s perfect for action lovers or anyone looking for lighthearted entertainment.
2. Marie Antoinette (2006)
Sofia Coppola’s film Marie Antoinette, released 20 years ago, initially received a mixed reaction, but it now seems surprisingly relevant. The movie tells the story of Marie Antoinette’s life, from her arrival in France to her tragic end, and cleverly connects the world of the 18th century to modern times. It’s known for its unusual soundtrack, which includes contemporary music, and its costumes that reflect the fashion of the early 2000s.
Despite its lighthearted and playful style, Marie Antoinette surprisingly foreshadows modern period dramas like Bridgerton. The film skillfully explores serious themes of isolation, social class, and indifference, all while being visually stunning and appealing to those with a fondness for past eras. It’s a truly underrated gem currently available on Hulu.
1. Send Help (2026)
With a Hulu subscription, you can watch some of the top movies from 2026, including the new hit Send Help. The film follows an office worker who finds herself stranded on an island with her demanding boss after being denied a promotion. Rachel McAdams gives a fantastic performance as Linda Liddle, a woman forced to become a survivalist, and Dylan O’Brien is perfectly cast as her annoying boss.
I was really struck by Send Help – it’s not just a scary movie, it really makes you think about what happens when everything falls apart and how quickly society can unravel. It’s a pretty intense watch, definitely not for the faint of heart, with some genuinely shocking scenes. Honestly, of everything new on Hulu right now, I’d say Send Help is the one you absolutely shouldn’t miss.
