Square Enix has officially announced the third installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, titled Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. The debut trailer is full of exciting action, featuring glimpses of Meteor, the WEAPONs, and even the Highwind airship. You can watch it below.
Players will navigate the game world using an airship they directly control, and can jump off at any time, similar to how it works in Tears of the Kingdom. The game also brings back classic Jobs, complete with new outfits for Cloud and Tifa, and introduces skills for Vincent and Cid. Valentine’s transformation looks impressive, but Cid’s staff attacks are also powerful. Square Enix says this game features their biggest open world to date, letting players explore areas beyond Midgar, including the city of Wutai, and many other locations.
Although Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has only been out for two years (and is now available on Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2), fans have been eagerly awaiting the final installment from Square Enix. Director Hamaguchi has occasionally shared updates, even revealing he’s played the game over 40 times.
In addition to adding the Highwind airship and significantly altering world map exploration, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is also launching the Remake series on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC all at the same time.
Hamaguchi isn’t sharing any details about how the story will conclude, wanting to keep the experience enjoyable for players. Plus, there’s a possibility the game might not truly end, as the team is considering adding downloadable content. We’ll have to wait and see if DLC becomes a reality, so keep an eye out for updates.
