Resident Evil Veronica: Release date speculation and what to expect

Capcom officially announced a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica at the opening of this year’s Summer Game Fest, a reveal that fans have been eagerly awaiting.

First launched in 2000, Resident Evil: Code Veronica is a standout title in the series that hasn’t yet received a modern remake, unlike many other Resident Evil games.

Honestly, as a long-time fan, I wasn’t totally surprised by this news. But it’s definitely raised a lot of questions for me, and everyone else I’ve talked to! I’ll keep digging and share anything new I find with you.

When is the Resident Evil Veronica release date?

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Veronica will be released in 2027, and some sources suggest a launch is planned for a particular time within that year.

Online reports suggest the game might be released in early 2027, potentially in January, February, or March.

If we had to pick a month, we’d say February 2027 is the most likely. Capcom released their latest Resident Evil game, Resident Evil Requiem, in February, so they seem to favor that month!

What to expect from Resident Evil Veronica

Capcom calls Resident Evil Veronica a scary new addition to the survival horror genre, according to its official website.

This isn’t a direct remake of the original game. Even longtime fans will have seen in the trailer that it starts with a completely new scene, introducing a French woman and a box of biscuits.

Capcom has stated on their website that the game will feature updated gameplay, a new story, and impressive graphics.

The story begins three months after the devastating biological incident in Raccoon City. Claire Redfield, one of the survivors alongside Leon S. Kennedy and Sherry Birkin, journeys to France hoping to find her brother, Chris.

Instead of finding her brother, Claire is confronted by the Umbrella special forces who caused the original disaster. They take her captive and bring her to a strange, secluded island.

Claire now faces a dangerous fight to escape Rockfort Island. Another outbreak has turned the once-isolated location into a terrifying place where simply surviving is a struggle.
