The Sinking City 2 Hands PS5 Detective Horror This August

Good news for fans! Frogwares is releasing The Sinking City 2 on August 18th, 2026, steering clear of the crowded September release window. The studio revealed the date today during the Future Games Show, and you can watch the new trailer above.

The complete game will be released in just a few months! If you’re eager to try it out now, a one-hour demo is available on Steam. Unfortunately, it’s not coming to PlayStation 5, but you can download the demo on PC to experience the first 60 minutes of this detective game.

A selection of new screenshots has also been made available today:

Since January 2023, the majority of development work has been carried out in Ukraine by a team of over 90 people, despite incredibly difficult circumstances. Sergiy Oganesyan, head of publishing, explained that they frequently experienced power and heating outages throughout the winter due to intentional attacks on infrastructure following the Russian invasion.

It was common for team members to be suddenly called away to serve, often requiring them to quickly transition their work. Life was incredibly unpredictable – we might be discussing a minor detail in a meeting one moment, and the next, we’d be scrambling for cover due to air raid sirens. People would often vanish for days because their homes had been damaged or destroyed overnight.

The Sinking City 2 is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 on August 18, 2026. This sequel will lean more heavily into the survival horror genre. I previously reviewed the first game on PS4, giving it a 7 out of 10 and describing it as a captivating detective story that explores the eerie world of H.P. Lovecraft, with a narrative that challenges your perceptions of reality.
