DOOM: The Dark Ages DLC Trailer Freezes Over Hell, Includes Release Date

id Software has been hinting at the DOOM: The Dark Ages expansion ever since the original game launched in May 2025. They finally revealed it at the Xbox Games Showcase. Officially titled DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations, the expansion features a frozen-over Hell and will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC very soon.

DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations Is Out Soon

The new DOOM Eternal campaign, Revelations, comes out on July 7th. It’s included with the game’s Premium Edition, or available for $19.99 as a standalone purchase. While the trailer didn’t reveal much, the official story says the Slayer has been injured and betrayed, forcing him into a harsh and challenging realm. He can escape only by facing difficult truths and gaining strength with the aid of a new, enigmatic character. This new area features colder environments than players are used to in DOOM, offering a fresh visual experience.

The Chain Spear is a major new feature, allowing players to reflect enemy projectiles, dodge attacks, and pull themselves towards enemies. The developers say it creates a rewarding combat system that combines strength and speed. The trailer showcases this increased mobility, making this installment of DOOM feel faster-paced, reminiscent of Eternal. We also got a look at several new demons players can battle with the Chain Spear, alongside returning enemies like the formidable Arch-vile.

This downloadable content (DLC) is releasing with the free Ripatorium 3.0 update, which added a customizable arena for player battles after the game launched. It will enhance the arena mode with more customization options, better code generation for sharing challenges, and the ability to save your favorite setups. Players who own the Revelations expansion will also receive three extra maps, demons, and fully powered-up new weapons to use in the Ripatorium after completing the DLC.
