Talay Riley, Songwriter for Britney Spears, Dead at 35 After Stabbing

Talay Riley’s loved ones have been left in shock.

Mark Orabiyi, a 35-year-old songwriter, was fatally stabbed in Silvertown, east London, on June 5th, police say.

Police responded to a stabbing in Silvertown and discovered a man, later identified as Orabiyi, wounded in a nearby garden. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said a man in his 20s was hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Police have not released his name.

After the incident, police arrested three people – two men, ages 27 and 25, and a 25-year-old woman – on suspicion of murder. However, on June 7th, police announced that the 27-year-old man had been released on bail while the investigation continues, and the other two individuals were released with no charges filed.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke said the investigation is moving quickly. Police are asking anyone who was near the scene at the time to come forward with information. They’re especially hoping to review any CCTV or other video footage from that morning that might help with the investigation.

She added, “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts remain with Mark’s family and loved ones.”

After the sad passing of Orabiyi, his brother Michael Orabiyi – a songwriter and producer who goes by the name Scribz Riley – shared the story of their final conversation.

He shared his devastation online, writing that he couldn’t believe what had happened and felt like he was in a nightmare. He remembered speaking with his friend just before bed about their plans and staying optimistic, never thinking it would be their final conversation.

His brother shared photos of Orabiyi throughout the years and wrote, “He was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. He loved generously, shared what he had freely, and affected so many people with his gifts, his good heart, and his personality. The incredible response shows how many lives he touched.”

Throughout his career, singer-songwriter Orabiyi collaborated with several well-known artists, including Zendaya, Britney Spears (on the song “Clumsy”), Dua Lipa (“Last Dance”), and Khalid (“Young Dumb & Broke”). Many of these artists have expressed their grief over his sudden death.

I, like so many others, will always cherish the memory of Orabiyi. His family shared that they’ll remember him for his incredible kindness, his wonderful personality, and just how talented he was, and that really sums him up for me too. He was a truly special person.

Mark was a deeply loved son, brother, uncle, and friend who brought happiness to everyone he knew. His family shared that he touched the lives of many, and he will be dearly missed and remembered always. They ask that he rest in peace.
