Will there be an Every Year After season 2? Latest news and speculation

*Warning: This article contains spoilers for Every Year After season 1.*

Okay, so the new series, Every Year After, starts off pretty emotionally. It revolves around a family dealing with the death of their mom, Sue, and they’re all trying to plan her memorial. It’s during this time that her daughter, Percy, returns to Barry’s Bay after being away for a while. Coming back stirs things up, especially because she has a bit of history – and some unresolved feelings – with her old flame, Sam.

The first season of Every Year After follows a couple navigating past heartbreak. They initially focus on happy memories and attempt to stay friends, but their underlying feelings eventually lead to a confession of love.

Throughout the season, everyone wonders what Percy did, and it proves to be too much for Sam to overcome, leaving their relationship uncertain. Meanwhile, Charlie (Michael Bradway) is really struggling, and the season ends with his future completely unclear.

But will there be a second season of Every Year After? Read on for everything we know so far.

Will there be an Every Year After season 2?

As of now, Prime Video have not renewed Every Year After for a second season.

Considering the first season ended with a big cliffhanger and the source books are incredibly popular, it’s likely the show will be renewed for more episodes.

Amy B. Harris, the showrunner, has shared that she envisions the Prime Video series lasting five seasons. She told Entertainment Weekly that she’s already planning ahead, particularly with a connected story from another book set in Barry’s Bay, which could serve as the basis for a second season.

Every Year After season 2 release date speculation

Since Every Year After hasn’t been renewed for another season, it’s difficult to say when a second season might be released.

If the show gets renewed quickly, we likely won’t have to wait long for the next season. Season one of Every Year After was filmed between June and September 2025 and released on Prime Video on June 10, 2026. So, if it’s renewed soon and filming starts quickly, a release in 2027 or 2028 is possible.

Every Year After season 2 cast speculation

I’m really hoping we see the whole original cast back for season two of Every Year After! I absolutely loved them all. Though, I’m a little worried about Charlie – Michael Bradway is fantastic, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that his character will be back too!

It’s likely the second season will be inspired by Carley Fortune’s novel, One Golden Summer, which is a follow-up to the book the show is based on, Every Summer After. The main change is that One Golden Summer focuses on Charlie’s romantic life, so fans are hoping he’ll be back for another season.

We probably won’t see Sue (Elisha Cuthbert), Sam and Charlie’s mother who sadly passed away, again – except possibly in flashbacks like we saw in season one. Here’s who we anticipate will be in season two.

  • Sadie Soverall as Percy
  • Matt Cornett as Sam
  • Aurora Perrineau as Chantal
  • Abigail Cowen as Delilah
  • Michael Bradway as Charlie
  • Joseph Chiu as Jordie
  • Juliette Hawk as Young Percy
  • Blue Clarke as Young Sam

What could happen in a potential Every Year After season 2?

We’ve heard suggestions that Charlie’s story might be the main focus if there’s a second season.

Charlie was having a romantic relationship with Delilah (Abigail Cowen), and we thought this might flourish now that Delilah was single. However, the season one finale revealed they had broken up. Season two will likely begin with the aftermath of Charlie’s heart attack at work, triggered by discovering an old photo of himself, Sam, and Percy with his boss.

Will Charlie be alright and what about the picture spurred Charlie’s physical reaction?

Percy has returned to Barry’s Bay and is now running Sue’s tavern, as she left it to him in her will. With Delilah’s help, the restaurant seems poised for success, but Sam’s reaction remains uncertain – will he ever be able to forgive Percy?

The show has a lot of potential for future storylines, and we’re planning even more exciting developments. According to showrunner Harris, while we have six central characters now, we expect to introduce new ones as the series continues, according to Entertainment Weekly.

We designed this as the start of a continuing story, with plenty of room to develop the romantic relationships further. There’s much more to tell about Percy and Sam’s love, and we’re excited to explore the stories of other characters that we hope viewers will connect with just as much.
