Get a first glimpse of “The Blame,” the new ITV drama starring Michelle Keegan, known for “Brassic,” and Douglas Booth, from “The Sandman.”
The new series is based on Charlotte Langley’s novel of the same name. It’s set in the peaceful town of Wakestead, which is shaken by a murder. What’s even more shocking is that one of the town’s police officers appears to be involved.
The short trailer reveals that Sophie, a 16-year-old girl, was reported missing by her parents and is later found deceased.
While reviewing the evidence, Detective Inspector Emma Keegan discovers a police radio transmission in the audio recording, suggesting another officer was at the scene that night.
With this information, Emma doubles down on trying to find out who it is.

Emma confronts PC Callum Drummond with a defaced photo of Sophie. She then reveals that Sophie was with a police officer when she died, and we see a brief flashback of Drummond near Sophie’s car on the night she disappeared.
DI Tom Radley warns Emma that continuing with the investigation could cause major problems for their department, but Emma welcomes the challenge, even daring her colleagues to try and stop her.

The trailer introduces Ian Hart (known from Mr Bates vs The Post Office) as DCI Kenneth Walker, Nathan Mensah as DC Lewis, and Gavin Spokes (Slow Horses) as DC Joel Stevens. All three appear stressed and frustrated by Emma’s determination to expose current corruption.
I’m really excited for the new show, The Blame! They haven’t said exactly when it’ll be out, but it’s coming this fall, so I’ve already added it to my list of shows to watch.
The new crime drama focuses on detectives Emma Crane and Tom Radley as they investigate a murder in the town of Wakestead. They soon have a suspect, but the case takes a surprising turn when new evidence emerges. As Emma and Tom delve deeper, they uncover a network of deceit, hidden secrets within institutions, and questionable ethics, leading Emma to doubt those she trusts most.
The series is a fast-paced mystery that also offers a thoughtful look at society and a compelling love story. It will explore important issues surrounding law enforcement and challenge viewers to consider who is truly trustworthy.
Nigel Boyle (known for Line of Duty) will play Brett Shergill, a digital forensics technician, and Joe Armstrong (Gentleman Jack) joins the cast as Kyle Frasier, an ice-skating coach. Matilda Freeman (Passenger) will portray Sophie Madsen, and Josh Bolt (Masters of the Air) will play DC Douglas James.
