The anime version of Takopi’s Original Sin quickly became known for its surprisingly mature and thought-provoking story. The original manga, created by Taizan 5, was published on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ in 2021. Many viewers consider the anime to be one of the most impactful and highly-rated series of last year. In just six episodes, it delivers a deeply emotional and complex psychological narrative. The story centers around Happin, a squid-like being dedicated to spreading joy, and Shizuka Kuze, a girl who rescued Happin from bullies and gave him the name Takopi.

I was really struck by the story of this girl’s difficult life, and I watched as Takopi genuinely tried to grapple with complicated feelings and achieve his aim – though it seemed much harder in practice than it sounded. Taizan5 is most famous for this work, but they’ve also created several short stories and another manga since 2020. Just a year after Takopi’s Original Sin came out, they published The Ichinose Family’s Deadly Sins in Weekly Shonen Jump. It didn’t get much notice for years, but it’s finally getting some recognition now that Viz Media has announced they’ll be releasing it in English for the first time.

The Ichinose Family’s Deadly Sins Will Get Its English in 2027

Viz Media revealed its Spring 2027 anime and manga plans on June 12th, 2026, with a major announcement: the English release of The Ichinose Family’s Deadly Sins. This popular manga originally ran from 2022 to 2023, collecting all 50 chapters into six volumes. Viz Media plans to release all six volumes at once, though the specific date is still to come – expect an update before the end of this year.

You’ll be able to pre-order the digital manga several weeks before it officially launches. Currently, only digital copies are available, and the creators haven’t announced whether physical copies will be released internationally.
