The first episode of My Adventures With Superman has arrived on Cartoon Network, launching an exciting reimagining of the “Reign of the Supermen” story. Although the Adult Swim show previously hinted at fresh versions of characters like Cyborg Superman and Superboy, the premiere unexpectedly brought in another well-known DC villain. Before the season began, egmr.ru spoke with series creators Jake Wyatt and Brendan Clogher about their unique take on this classic adversary of Superman.
Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for season three of My Adventures With Superman. A major new character introduced in the Adult Swim series is Bizarro, nicknamed “B1Z.” This version of the DC villain is surprisingly gentle and loving. Unlike previous depictions as a hostile alien or twisted clone, this Bizarro is created as a kind-hearted character who shares Superman’s powers but is much bigger in size.
Initially, Clogher wasn’t confident that the character “B1Z” would fit into the show. He admitted being hesitant about Bizarro, but praised Jake for finding the right approach. Having grown up around children with disabilities, Clogher felt it was important to portray the character respectfully. Jake then explained the inspiration behind this new version of Bizarro, revealing he’d studied episodes of The X-Files between seasons two and three. He wanted to create a similar, high-quality episode centered on Bizarro. The team landed on the idea of Bizarro being like Tarzan – a powerful being separated from his origins and living alone. They created a key scene with Clark to establish Bizarro’s backstory and set up his character arc, emphasizing that he’s still a weapon created as a twisted reflection of Superman.
A Bizarre Introduction

I learned from Clogher that the character “B1Z” was created to represent disabilities. He described Bizarro as simply experiencing the world differently, and shared that this resonated with him personally because he has ADHD. Having spent time at summer camps with children who had autism and other disabilities, he’s seen firsthand how often neurodiversity is misunderstood – something he feels many people still struggle to grasp. Like Tarzan, Bizarro sees things from a unique perspective but still maintains control over his own life.
Wyatt explained their take on the character Bizarro: instead of being a villain, they envisioned him as admiring Superman and wanting to be like him. He’s someone who aspires to greatness but might always fall short – or in this version, becomes a quirky friend to Clark Kent. The creators wanted a fresh backstory for Bizarro, making him a reflection of Clark’s own path, without portraying him as evil. They explored how things could have turned out differently for him, and how Clark’s decisions would affect his life. And, they decided he should be physically attractive too!
My Adventures With Superman airs weekly on Saturdays at midnight, airing the next day on HBO Max.
