The latest Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion, called Pitch Black, is coming out shortly! We’re giving you an exclusive first look at three of the new cards included in the set.
Pokémon is having a big year, marking its 30th anniversary with exciting new releases! Fans can look forward to games like Pokopia, partnerships with organizations like the National Trust and Ikea, the debut of Generation 10, and plenty of fresh trading card game sets.
Many people are most excited about the next announcement, so let’s get straight to the point and reveal our three new cards right away.
This Slowpoke card starts with a good aesthetic but isn’t very powerful gameplay-wise. It has 70HP and uses a weak Headbutt attack dealing 20 damage. Its special ability, All-You-Can-Yeet, lets you discard any number of cards from your hand.
This card isn’t particularly strong by itself, but it might become useful when combined with the following two cards…
Okay, so things are getting interesting! I wasn’t expecting this so early, but here’s Slowbro, the first evolution of Slowpoke. Pretty cool!
Slowpoke can be a surprisingly strong opponent with its 130HP and powerful Zen Headbutt attack (110 damage). Its ability, ‘All Out,’ adds another layer of strategy: it deals 50 damage normally, but a massive 160 if you’re playing without any cards in your hand. This lets skilled players use Slowpoke’s ‘All-You-Can-Yeet’ tactic to their advantage.
But the piece de resistance of this trio is undoubtedly Mega Slowbro ex.
True to form for Mega Slowbro, this card boasts an impressive 330HP and features the Shellnado Spin attack.
This attack deals 180 damage and also puts 12 damage counters on the Pokémon that attacked it during the next turn – even if this Pokémon is knocked out!
