As someone who grew up reading comics, Rob Liefeld is a total icon to me – he’s the co-founder of Image Comics, which really changed the game back in the day! He’s created so much amazing stuff, but I always loved his Youngblood series. And honestly? Seeing him bring it back after all these years was incredible. It totally captured that same exciting energy from when I first read it, and it’s been a huge hit with fans like me who are nostalgic for ‘90s comics. Just recently, Youngblood hit its 100th issue, and it sold out almost instantly! It’s awesome to see such a milestone reached for a series that means so much to a lot of us.
I was so excited when Youngblood #100 came out! It really launched what everyone started calling the “Summer of Youngblood” – a full-on celebration of this iconic Image series making such a huge comeback. Honestly, the first issue sold out fast, and it’s awesome to see Liefield and the team at Image working hard to get more copies in our hands. They’re already doing a second printing, but they didn’t stop there! It’s not just new covers this time; they’re going all-out with totally fresh cover designs featuring art from some amazing creators and even bringing in guest characters. It’s shaping up to be an incredible summer for Youngblood fans like me!
Covers and Characters Galore

The second printing will feature three different cover designs, all based on the same artwork of Chapel aiming at four targets created by Liefield. What sets them apart is the characters featured, illustrated by different artists. Cover A showcases Invincible (Cory Walker), D’orc (Brett Bean), Feral’s Elsie (Trish Forstner), and Fireborn (Patrick Mulholland). Cover B highlights characters from Ghost Machine – Rook (Jason Fabok), Geiger (Gary Frank), Hyde Street’s Mr. X-Ray (Ivan Reis), and Rose from Hornsby & Halo (Peter Snejbjerg). Cover C is a black-and-white version intended for artists and convention attendees, with blank gun sights for them to fill in. Brad Anderson provided the coloring for both Covers A and B.

Liefeld expressed his excitement about the successful return of Youngblood, saying it surpassed all expectations. He thanked the partners and co-founders for their contributions to the sold-out issue #100. To keep the celebration going, he reached out to fellow independent comic creators for help in creating something truly special and unique. Fans can expect a lot more Youngblood comics coming soon, and Liefeld expressed his gratitude for the dedicated fanbase that has supported the series for 34 years.
Check with your local comic book store to see if they have the first edition, or place an order for the second printing or the new Badrock #1 coming out next month.
Just a heads-up for my fellow comic fans! The second printing of Youngblood #100 is coming out this Wednesday, July 8th! If you can’t make it to a comic shop, don’t worry – you can also grab a digital copy on places like Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play. I’m really excited to finally read this one!
