Bunnie Xo is feeling unapologetic amid her breakup with Jelly Roll.
The host of the Dumb Blonde podcast posted hints on social media about how she was feeling after her husband, Jason DeFord (known as Jelly), filed for divorce after almost a decade of marriage.
On June 15th, Alisa DeFord, known as Bunnie on TikTok, posted a video lip-syncing to Nickelback’s popular song “How You Remind Me.”
She softly sang along with the music: “It’s unusual for you to apologize… I had hoped for a happier ending.” Then, more quietly, she added, “I was wrong to give my heart to someone who would hurt me.”
Bunnie XO, age 46, recently posted a revealing photo on Instagram. The picture, taken during a boudoir shoot, shows her topless with a pink lace bra partially covering her chest. She captioned the image with “She’s getting her sparkle back,” and set it to the song “Help I’m Alive” by Metric.
Jelly, age 41, initiated divorce proceedings at a court in Tennessee on May 18th, as reported by TopMob News. TopMob has contacted representatives for both Jelly and his wife, Bunnie, but has not yet received a response.
Bunnie submitted the paperwork three months after publishing her memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, where she shared details about her relationship with the country music star.
She explained that J had changed significantly since they first met in 2015. Back then, he didn’t have the stability he enjoys now – for a while after they connected, he was still moving from place to place, sometimes sleeping on friends’ couches and often living out of his van, which he affectionately called Bertha.
Even though Jelly’s van was messy – filled with things like condoms, food scraps, and garbage – Bunnie was attracted to him. She described their connection as feeling deeply spiritual, despite the state of his vehicle.

I usually go for strong, edgy guys—like goth or emo types who wear eyeliner,” she said. “He definitely wasn’t my usual taste, and I didn’t think I was his either. So it was so strange that the moment we met, something inside me just knew he was special. I couldn’t understand why, and I had no idea what he thought of me, though I did have a feeling.
The couple got married at the Stained Glass Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas in August 2016. This happened during a difficult time for Jelly, as he was dealing with a custody dispute over his daughter Bailee (now 18) and had just welcomed his son Noah (age 9). They separated briefly in 2018, and the singer later confessed to being unfaithful.
You know, I’ve learned that relationships, like anything worthwhile, sometimes need work. I recently shared on the Human School Podcast that I really put in the effort to mend a specific relationship, and it’s been incredibly rewarding. Honestly, it’s brought us closer than ever before – we’re stronger now than we ever thought possible. It just proves that with dedication, even tough situations can lead to something truly special.
For a complete timeline of Jelly and Bunnie’s relationship, read on.

Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll’s relationship started in Las Vegas back in 2015. Bunnie shared on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast that she first met Jelly Roll while he was performing at a small show at the Las Vegas Country Saloon – before he became famous. He was living in a van at the time, and there were only around 20 people in the audience.
Despite their initial differences – Bunnie said he’s usually into someone like Taylor Swift, while she’s not his typical type – they felt an immediate connection. She described it as feeling like she’d finally found who she was meant to be with.
However, a romance didn’t begin immediately. Both were dealing with their own situations; Bunnie was in an unhealthy relationship and Jelly Roll was focused on his career. They reconnected in October 2015, and Bunnie quickly fell for him.
After her ex-partner went to prison, she asked a friend to give Jelly Roll her number. He started reaching out to her for advice about his daughter, Bailee. Their connection remained platonic until July 2016 when Jelly Roll returned to Vegas to film videos.
They ended up spending the night together, but even during that intimate moment, Jelly Roll was different than she expected. While Bunnie was focused on the present, he asked about her five-year plan! After discussing their goals, they decided to pursue a relationship.

Bunnie and Jelly Roll followed through on their plans quickly. They got married in Las Vegas just a month after they first discussed it, in August 2016, and then systematically achieved all the goals they’d set for their first five years together, culminating in buying a house.
Bunnie also had her own ambitions, wanting to start a podcast. Jelly Roll explained on The Howard Stern Show that when Bunnie decided to leave the sex work industry in 2019, he asked her what she was passionate about, and she expressed a desire to host a talk show. She launched the Dumb Blonde podcast later that year.
Bunnie used the money she’d earned to support Jelly Roll’s career. She invested in his 2017 album, Addiction Kills, and helped him with legal matters regarding custody of his daughter, as she shared on Sofia Franklyn’s podcast, Sofia with an F.

Jelly Roll’s daughter, Bailee, was born in 2008 while he was in prison for drug dealing. He credits Bailee with saving his life, even though she was very young at the time. Bailee remembers her father entering her life around age two, as he was starting his music career and living in a van. While Jelly Roll admits he wasn’t always there for her, he fought for full custody when her mother struggled with addiction.
Interestingly, it was Jelly Roll’s then-girlfriend, Bunnie, who financially supported his legal battle to gain custody. This situation prompted both of them to re-examine their own lives and habits. Bunnie realized they couldn’t provide a stable home for Bailee while still struggling with addiction herself, and she made the decision to get sober.
Bunnie also embraced a maternal role, becoming a mother figure to Bailee. In a heartfelt message for Bailee’s sixteenth birthday in 2024, she thanked Jelly Roll for allowing her to be the mom she never had, and Bailee for the healing lessons she’d taught her over the past eight years.

Jelly Roll and Bunnie welcomed their son, Noah, around a week before their wedding in August 2016, while Jelly Roll was also navigating a custody battle for his daughter, Bailee. He shared his hopes for Noah on Facebook, writing, “God Bless this Child to be everything I am not!” and expressing his wish that neither of his children would suffer for his past mistakes.
Over the years, Jelly Roll and Bunnie have largely kept Noah’s life private, though they’ve occasionally shared small updates. In July 2023, Bunnie posted a TikTok of a conversation with Noah, asking about his favorite sport (soccer) and beach activities (playing in the water), but emphasized that she had first gotten permission from Noah’s mother.
Bunnie and Jelly Roll maintain a positive relationship with Noah’s mother, with Bunnie publicly praising her in a 2023 Facebook post, stating she’s a wonderful person and crucial support for Noah, especially given Jelly Roll and Bunnie’s busy touring schedule.
Bunnie cherishes her role as Noah’s stepmother. In an October 2024 Instagram post after Noah attended one of his dad’s concerts, she expressed how much joy she gets from watching him grow up and how grateful she is to be a part of his life since birth, also acknowledging Noah’s mother’s support.

As someone who’s followed a lot of relationships, I’ve always admired Jelly Roll and Bunnie’s honesty. They went through a really tough time a couple of years after getting married – they actually separated. Jelly Roll has been very open about the fact that he made a mistake and had an affair, and how devastating that was for both of them. He really hit a low point and realized he could lose the woman he loved. But what I find so inspiring is that they didn’t give up. They worked incredibly hard to rebuild their relationship, and they actually came out stronger on the other side. He’s said they’re more solid now than ever before. It wasn’t easy – there was a period where he moved back to Vegas and she had to actively come back for him – but they recommitted to the promises they made when they first got together back in 2016. They had to let go of what wasn’t working to build something truly lasting. It’s a beautiful reminder that even after a breakup, real love can be rebuilt on a much stronger foundation.

As Jelly Roll became more famous, he and his wife, Bunnie, made their red carpet debut together at the 2022 CMA Awards. In his documentary, Jelly Roll: Save Me, Bunnie described them as “the Addams Family of country music—we don’t really fit in, but here we are.”

Jelly Roll and Bunnie celebrated their love again in 2023 by renewing their vows seven years after their initial wedding.
Bunnie fondly remembered their first ceremony, recalling how Jelly Roll looked her in the eyes and promised to help her escape a difficult situation and build a better life together. He kept that promise.
The past seven years have been challenging but rewarding, Bunnie shared. They worked hard to overcome past traumas and create a loving home for Bailee, their daughter, supporting each other through everything. She described it as a ‘dark fairytale’ full of struggle and growth.
Bunnie expressed her deep love and admiration for Jelly Roll, calling him her soulmate, safe haven, best friend, hero, and an exceptional man – someone truly one-of-a-kind.

Jelly Roll and Bunnie continue to have a loving relationship, and she’s even been the inspiration behind some of his songs, like “Woman” and “Kill a Man.” He told Entertainment Tonight that she’s “the best,” and he struggled to write a sincere love song without sounding cheesy. He wanted to express how deeply he feels for her while still being true to himself. He says he doesn’t have eyes for anyone else and wanted a vulnerable song to reflect that. The couple also appeared together in the music videos for “Wheels Fall Off” and “Lonely Road,” which featured Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox.

Bunnie is Jelly Roll’s biggest supporter, always cheering him on whether she’s watching live or at home.
She recently shared a heartfelt message celebrating his success at the 2024 CMT Music Awards, acknowledging it wasn’t an instant achievement but the result of two decades of hard work. She recalled struggling days when few people listened to his music, contrasted with the incredible nights performing in packed arenas.
Bunnie praised Jelly Roll’s songwriting, describing how he turns personal pain into comforting songs that deeply resonate with listeners—songs that offer understanding and healing.
The couple’s strong bond is inspiring to their fans. Bunnie affectionately calls him ‘Papabear’ and says his voice has the power to heal, reaching people all over the world.
Jelly Roll equally supports Bunnie, expressing immense pride in her accomplishments on social media and with her podcast, especially how she inspires other women.

Bunnie Xo is fiercely protective of her husband, Jelly Roll, and won’t tolerate negativity directed towards him. She recently spoke out against hurtful online comments he received about his weight before losing over 200 pounds, explaining that the bullying led him to step away from the internet.
On her podcast, Dumb Blonde, Bunnie shared how much these comments affected Jelly Roll, despite him trying not to show it. She emphasized that celebrities are just as vulnerable to online harassment and shouldn’t be expected to simply endure it. She strongly urged people to refrain from bullying others, highlighting the potential impact on someone’s mental health.
Bunnie vowed to defend those who are targeted and made it clear she won’t stand for lies or attacks against her family. Jelly Roll has been open about his own struggles, recently revealing he was dealing with low testosterone and serious health issues, even stating he felt like he was ‘dying’ during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience.

Jelly Roll and his wife, Bunnie, have been publicly sharing their journey to expand their family.
After Jelly Roll mentioned they were considering having a baby, Bunnie explained that they’ve been undergoing IVF treatments. In a June 2024 Instagram post, she revealed they decided to share their experiences because of their open relationship and the challenges they’ve already faced.
Bunnie shared that they are exploring all options for growing their family, expressing both excitement and fear. While they initially hadn’t planned on having more children, they now deeply desire a biological child to add to their family alongside their children, Bailee and Noah.
They’re also considering surrogacy because Bunnie is unable to carry a child herself due to health risks, as she discussed in March 2025 on her podcast, Dumb Blonde.
The process has been difficult, but Bunnie expressed their faith, stating on her November 2025 podcast episode that they’re trusting the outcome to God and are open to adoption if IVF and surrogacy aren’t successful.

Jelly Roll and his wife are divorcing, with court documents in Tennessee showing he filed in May 2026. Shortly before the news became public, Bunnie shared a suggestive post on Instagram—a picture of herself in lingerie with the caption, “She’s getting her sparkle back.”
