The 13-Year-Old PS4 Has a New Firmware Update, Here Are the Patch Notes

People who bought the original PlayStation 4 when it first came out almost 13 years ago are still receiving software updates and support from Sony, keeping their consoles running smoothly.

A new firmware update for the aged console is available now, bringing it to version 13.52.

Hold your horses, though – it’s not a groundbreaking update. The only official change listed is this:

    • We’ve made some security fixes to the system software.

That’s your lot.

This is likely a security measure to protect the PS4 from being hacked, and it probably won’t impact most users.

If you still use a PS4 or PS4 Pro, it’s a good idea to install this update to ensure you have the newest security features.

It’s surprisingly not just the PS4 receiving updates in 2026. The PS3 also got a small firmware update back in March.
