It has become evident that Microsoft’s porting endeavors, such as those for Forza Horizon 5, have led to robust PlayStation 5 sales recently. However, a fresh chart from Circana clearly illustrates the reasons behind Xbox games making their way onto multiple platforms.
During the Q2 of 2025, spanning from April 6th to July 5th, we compiled sales data for both physical and digital versions in the USA. This analysis showed that six out of the top ten best-selling games on PS5 were published by Microsoft. Here’s how the top 10 list looks:

Last week, it was announced that Forza Horizon 5 is currently the top-selling new game launched on the PlayStation 5 this year, with sales exceeding three million units just on the console – recent sales figures in the USA support this assertion. Oblivion Remastered comes in second place among PS5 titles sold during Q2, while Call of Duty and Minecraft continue to be popular choices.
In simpler terms, the older games are outperforming blockbusters such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and the top-selling MLB series in terms of sales.
In the upcoming weeks, there’s a strong possibility that additional Xbox games will be announced. Regardless of new confirmations, we already know that Gears of War: Reloaded and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 are slated for release this summer. There’s speculation that Microsoft is also developing PS5 versions of Starfield, Halo, and other titles. Given the significant increase in sales a PS5 port can bring to a game, it’s evident that Microsoft is committed to its multi-platform strategies.
It’s plausible that Sony might join the trend as well, given that Hell Divers 2 has been confirmed for Xbox Series X|S. However, a recent PlayStation job posting hinted at more porting projects, though this was later disputed by a trustworthy source.
