TV’s most trusted doctors are reporting for duty.
Filming for The Pitt has started up again after a two-month break, following the dramatic season two finale that aired on HBO Max in April.
The streamer announced on X (formerly Twitter) on June 16th that filming for Season 3 of #ThePitt had officially started, simply writing, “Badging in.”
A new video from the set reveals the security badges of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital staff, letting fans know for sure which beloved characters will be back for the upcoming season.
The medical team working long shifts includes Dr. Michael Robinavitch (Noah Wyle), head nurse Dana Evans (Katherine LaNasa), Drs. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi), Cassie McKay (Fiona Dourif), Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball), Melissa King (Taylor Deardon), Trinity Santos (Isa Briones), Dennis Whitaker (Gerran Howell), and Victoria Javadi (Shabana Azeez).
In addition, familiar night shift doctor Jack Abbott (Shawn Hatosy) and Dr. Parker Ellis (Ayesha Harris) might be moving to the day team, as Ayesha Harris has been promoted to a main role for the third season.
The short preview only shows a few of the actors in the show. It doesn’t feature supporting cast members like Kristin Villanueva (Princess), Amielynn Abellera (Pearlah), or Jalen Thoms Brooks (Mateo Diaz)—who is also working on Off Campus—but they are all still expected to be back for more.
Notably missing from the upcoming season will be Supriya Ganesh, whose character, Dr. Samira Mohan, won’t be returning. While her character will be missed, actor Christian Wyle previously explained that it’s common for senior residents to move to different hospitals during their training.
Cast changes are a natural part of the show, happening every season. As writers, we constantly have to balance how much time passes and how to keep the core group together believably,” the former ER star explained to Variety in April. “Because emergency rooms see a lot of turnover, we always aim to introduce new characters or give existing ones bigger roles to keep the stories interesting as the cast evolves.
Azeez recently surprised fans by hinting that Javadi won’t be back with the emergency trauma team next season. But it seems she’s still going to be around, just not in that specific role.
She recently told Bustle that she’s no longer working in the emergency room this season. She explained that after completing her emergency medicine rotation, she has now moved on to her psychiatry rotation.
And Azeez is excited to get her feet wet in a new field of medicine.
It feels completely different for me,” she said. “I’m definitely scared and anxious, but I’m also really proud to be able to share this side of healthcare.

According to Wyle, the third season will be set in late autumn, several months after the events of the second season which took place over the Fourth of July weekend.
According to a recent interview with People magazine, the 54-year-old explained that winter brings an increase in problems like car accidents, icy roads, and heating system failures. He also noted a change in clothing and overall atmosphere during the colder months.

In a March 2026 episode, the crime drama said farewell to Director Leon Vance, portrayed by Rocky Carroll, after 18 years with the show, beginning in season five. As someone who keeps a close eye on style and personalities, I’ve learned it’s all about finding the right fit – and that applies to reality TV too! When I joined Bravo’s show back in season fourteen, in 2022, I quickly realized being part of the supporting cast just wasn’t my thing. It was a great experience, but ultimately I needed something more.
After careful consideration, I’ve decided not to return to the show,” she explained. “I’d be the oldest and only openly gay woman on the cast, and I think it’s a good time to allow for some fresh perspectives and a new energy to come in.

As a huge SNL fan, I was really sad to hear that Gardner and Nwodim won’t be back for Season 51! It feels like just yesterday we were enjoying their hilarious characters. This news came on the heels of Longfellow, Walker, and Wakim’s departures too – after eight and seven seasons with the show, it’s definitely a big change for the cast.

Even though fans might have expected Joel Miller, played by Pedro Pascal, to die – his fate in April 2025 closely mirrored the events of The Last of Us Part II, the video game the second season of The Last of Us is based on – the shocking way his character was killed still came as a surprise.
Pascal, known for dying in roles on shows like Game of Thrones and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, wasn’t surprised by his character’s fate. He playfully told Entertainment Weekly, “I’m used to it – I actually enjoy dying on screen!”

Summer just got a little less fun.
In June 2025, Paige DeSorbo revealed she was leaving the Bravo series after being on the show for seven seasons.
It’s hard to believe, but you’ve been with me through seven amazing summers! I’m so incredibly thankful for all the fun memories we’ve made together, the wonderful community that’s formed around the podcast, and every chance this journey has given me. But honestly, even though it’s bittersweet, I know it’s time to move on and start a new adventure. It feels like the right moment to close this chapter.

The popular Netflix show will be without its French star when it returns for a fifth season in April 2025, as she has decided not to come back.
It’s with a bit of sadness, but also a lot of gratitude, that I learned Lily Collins won’t be continuing with Emily in Paris. She shared on Instagram that she’s decided to move on, and honestly, while I’ll miss seeing her as Emily, I completely understand. She talked about how much the show has meant to her – all the growth, the fun, and the amazing memories she made with the cast. It really sounded like a special experience for her, and I’m so glad she got to have that, even though it’s ending for her.

But she’s not gone for good. Pompeo still pops in and out of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

Okay, so a big change is happening in the fantasy world of The Witcher! Henry Cavill, who you probably know as Superman and starred in the first three seasons, is moving on. Don’t worry, though, the show will continue – Liam Hemsworth will be taking over as Geralt starting with season four. It sounds like he’ll be playing the character for the long haul, which is great news for fans!
In an October 2022 Instagram post, Henry Cavill announced that after playing Geralt of Rivia, he would be stepping away from the role starting with season four. He said his time fighting monsters and going on adventures as the character had been incredible, but it was time to hang up his Witcher gear.

Okay, so it totally broke my heart when Jesse Lee Soffer left ‘Chicago P.D.’ back in 2022! I mean, seeing him take off his uniform – saying goodbye to Jay Halstead after ten amazing seasons – was just… devastating. He played that detective perfectly, and honestly, it hasn’t been the same since.
Everyone involved with the show has poured their heart and soul into making each week’s episode, and it’s been a rewarding experience,” said Jesse Soffer after his last appearance on the NBC show on October 5th. “I’m incredibly proud of my time playing Detective Jay Halstead.

Oh my gosh, Ruby Rose as Batwoman! I was SO excited when she first appeared in that Arrowverse crossover back in 2018! And then she was Batwoman, Kate Kane, on her own show! It was HUGE – the first time a lesbian superhero led her own series, and that coming-out scene was everything! I was completely obsessed… so I was absolutely devastated when she announced she was leaving just two days after the first season ended in 2020. It was a shock! But then they recast with Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, a completely new Batwoman taking over the Batcave in season two, and honestly, I’m trying to be excited for that too, but I’ll always have a soft spot for Ruby as Kate!
Later on in season two, Kate got a bit of a face swap and returned played by Wallis Day.

America Ferrera left the show Superstore after its fifth season in 2020, which meant both a change for the Cloud 9 store and a loss for the series’ main storyline.
