Sean “Diddy” Combs is one step closer to freedom.
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the rapper—who is currently in prison for four years due to prostitution-related convictions—will be released on February 23, 2028.
This isn’t the first time Sean Combs’ release date has been changed. He was originally scheduled to be released on May 8, 2028, after his sentencing last year, but that was later moved forward to June 4, 2028.
Originally scheduled for release on April 25, 2028, the date was later moved forward to April 15, 2028.
TopMob has reached out to Combs’ attorney for comment but hasn’t heard back.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is currently serving a five-year sentence at Fort Dix prison in New Jersey. He was moved there from a detention center in New York City in late October after being convicted of federal sex trafficking charges. A jury found him guilty on two counts related to transporting individuals for illegal sexual activity, a violation of the Mann Act, following a seven-week trial.
While Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is in jail, his lawyers are still working to get his conviction overturned. According to court documents obtained by CNN, they argue that the gatherings that led to his conviction – where he transported people across state lines for sexual activity, referred to as ‘Freak Offs’ – shouldn’t be considered illegal under the Mann Act. Instead, they claim these were essentially amateur pornography shoots.
As a longtime observer, it’s deeply disturbing to learn about what was happening behind closed doors. Court documents reveal these gatherings – described as ‘freak-offs’ – weren’t just parties; they were carefully planned sexual shows. Apparently, costumes, roleplaying, and even special lighting were used to create this content, which was then filmed for Sean Combs and his partners to view privately. It essentially amounted to amateur pornography produced for their personal enjoyment.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this legal case closely, and here’s how I understand it: the courts have made it clear that creating and watching pornography is a form of free speech protected under the First Amendment. This means it can’t be legally punished. Essentially, the law now defines ‘prostitution’ very specifically – it only applies when money is exchanged directly for sexual acts. Anything else falls outside of that legal definition.

According to court documents from a 2024 indictment obtained by TopMob News, prosecutors allege that ‘Freak Offs’ were multi-day events involving drugs and sexual activity where Sean Combs reportedly used force, intimidation, and pressure to make people participate.
During the trial, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, stated she engaged in numerous sexual encounters with him – hundreds, according to her testimony – and alleged he secretly filmed them to threaten and control her.
She testified that he would bring up these issues whenever he was angry. She described it as a frequent occurrence, explaining she worried about the impact on her job and family. She found the whole situation deeply humiliating, calling it “horrible and disgusting” and stating that no one deserves to be treated that way.

As a lifestyle expert, I always advise my clients to make choices that avoid legal trouble! Unfortunately, this individual faced serious consequences in court on October 3rd, 2025. He received a hefty sentence of over four years – specifically, 50 months – behind bars, along with five years of supervised release once he’s out and a significant $500,000 fine. It’s a stark reminder that actions have repercussions.

For the first time, the musician addressed the court on October 3rd during his sentencing, offering an apology to Cassie Ventura and a woman identified as Jane.
Combs admitted that experiencing domestic violence will always be a painful part of his life. He described his own behavior as ‘disgusting, shameful, and sick,’ attributing it to drug use and a lack of control. He acknowledged he needed help but didn’t receive it, and stated there’s no justification for his actions.
He went on to share how the case has impacted him.
He explained that he was simply doing his best but got carried away with pride and excess. As a result of his choices, he lost his freedom, couldn’t be present for his family – including raising his children and caring for his mother – and lost everything he’d worked for: his businesses, career, and reputation. Most importantly, he said, he lost respect for himself, leaving him feeling utterly defeated and stripped bare.

Judge Arun Subramanian set Young Thug’s sentencing date for October 3, 2025. The judge also refused to grant him bond before the sentencing, explaining that his history of violence meant he should stay in jail.

Following the trial, after Sean “Diddy” Combs was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges involving his former partners Cassie and “Jane,” but convicted of transporting them for the purpose of prostitution, Cassie’s attorney released a statement about the outcome.
Attorney Douglas Wigdor stated on July 2nd that this legal battle began when his client, Cassie Ventura, bravely filed a civil lawsuit in November 2023. While the jury didn’t find enough evidence to convict Combs of sex trafficking, Ventura’s actions allowed them to find him liable for transporting someone for prostitution. Wigdor believes Ventura has made a lasting impact on both the entertainment world and the pursuit of justice by sharing her story.
Acknowledging the charges Combs denied, Wigdor emphasized, “We firmly stand with and support our client, who demonstrated remarkable bravery throughout this process.”
Wigdor also commended Ventura for her testimony, as she was one of 34 witnesses during the 29-day trial involving Combs.
Honestly, watching her stand up was just… incredible. She wasn’t afraid to call out the powerful guys who think they can get away with anything, all the awful stuff they’ve been doing for years and never facing consequences. It felt like this case finally proved how desperately we need things to change, and I know everyone supporting her – we’re not going to stop until every survivor gets the justice they deserve. Seriously, she’s amazing.

When Combs learned he was found not guilty on three of the five charges against him, he dropped to his knees with his head bowed, appearing to pray, NBC News reported from the courtroom. He had faced a potential life sentence if convicted on all counts.
According to reports, Combs’ family members were in the courtroom and reacted with applause and cheers to the verdict. His lawyers embraced each other, and Combs shared a hug with his attorney, Brian Steel.

After three days of discussion, the jury of twelve reached a decision in the sex trafficking trial against Combs on July 2nd. They found him guilty on two counts related to transporting individuals for prostitution – specifically involving his former girlfriends Ventura and another woman known only as “Jane.”
Sean Combs, who maintained his innocence throughout the trial, was acquitted on one charge of conspiring to commit racketeering and two charges related to sex trafficking.
Oh my gosh, it was so stressful! The jury had finished everything except deciding on that one big racketeering charge – they told Judge Subramanian they just couldn’t agree, said everyone had their minds made up and wouldn’t budge. I honestly thought it was over! But then the judge spoke to them, urging them to keep trying, and thankfully, they did! They actually reached a verdict just hours after going back in to talk again. It was such a relief, seriously!

During her nearly five-hour closing argument to the jury, prosecutor Christy Slavik asserted that Sean “Diddy” Combs used intimidation, force, and control to achieve his goals.
She explained that he was incredibly stubborn and always got his way. He saw everything and everyone around him as existing solely to fulfill his needs, treating his life like a personal kingdom.
Slavik highlighted two alleged incidents of abuse by Combs: a physical assault on his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in 2016, and another alleged assault on his then-girlfriend in 2024, who is being referred to as “Jane” during the trial.
She explained that although these two events happened eight years apart, they were connected. She described them as parts of a single, larger narrative – the story of Sean Combs and the criminal organization he ran with the help of those closest to him.
The criminal group repeatedly fulfilled the defendant’s wishes using a consistent pattern of violence, intimidation, and control, she explained. The defendant believed that keeping people silent and ashamed would conceal his crimes, and he thought his celebrity, money, and influence meant the law wouldn’t apply to him.
Slavik claimed that during the trial, Combs benefited from a large team of employees dedicated to fulfilling his every need, bolstering his image, and shielding him from any negative publicity.

The prosecutors asked the court for permission to change some details of their arguments about the attempted arson and kidnapping charges.
Despite still being charged with racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking – including allegations of kidnapping and arson – prosecutors recently clarified they’ve dropped specific attempted kidnapping and arson charges based on the laws of California and New York, as well as the charge of assisting with sex trafficking.
The government stated they hope making the instructions easier to understand will both simplify the process and prevent misunderstandings.

Combs told JudgeSubramanian that he will not take the stand during his sex trafficking trial.
The judge made it clear that whether or not the music executive chose to testify, no one – not even the jurors – could assume his guilt simply because he remained silent.
Combs admitted he discussed with his team whether or not to testify, but insisted the final decision was his alone.
“I’ve thought this through carefully, and this is what I’ve decided,” he told the judge. “It’s my choice, and I stand by it.”

Sean Combs’ lawyer, Teny Garagos, informed the judge that both the defense and the prosecution anticipate needing around four hours each to deliver their closing statements.
After several days of testimony from Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Joseph Cerciello, the prosecution rested its case on June 24th. The defense team for Combs has announced they will not call any witnesses and will instead base their argument on the evidence already presented.

During his June 23rd testimony, the jury saw explicit videos believed to be from parties hosted by Combs, often referred to as “freak offs,” and these videos were officially presented as evidence, according to NBC News reporters present in the courtroom.
The agent reported finding 50 explicit videos from 2021 and 2022, but the jury only viewed two of them, using headphones and individual screens.

In voicemails to his former chief of staff, Kristina Khorram, Sean Combs outlined a series of requests he had while staying at a hotel in November 2021. These included asking for more baby oil, which he said he used during times of intense stress.
He told Khorram, “Have them call me before they start driving here.” Then, seemingly surprised to be out, he added, “I can’t believe I’m out. Load twenty bottles into the vehicle.”
Khorram also said she would stay at the hotel one extra night, and let them know, “The baby oil is right outside the door.”
According to text messages, his former employee told him she was setting up an IV drip for him and Jane, which he’d previously used to recover after intense competitions.
She also made sure that there were Plan-B pills, an emergency contraceptive, in his nightstand.

The jury saw text messages between Combs and Ventura where Ventura openly described the emotional and psychological harm she claimed she suffered due to the alleged abuse.
I remember when things started to really fall apart with Jesse. Back in March 2017, he asked if I wanted to take a break, and it just broke my heart. I told him no, because I was so tired of being made to feel bad for simply standing up for myself. It felt like he didn’t value me at all, and honestly, that’s what hurt the most.
In another instance, she further accused her ex of physically assaulting her.
In a letter from May, Ventura described a painful experience, stating she offered love only to be met with harm – specifically, being physically assaulted and dragged by her hair. She expressed feeling emotionally devastated and disconnected from the event itself, finding solace in recognizing her own inner strength even during such a difficult time. She emphasized that this was no longer acceptable behavior, noting her age of 30 and stating it wasn’t a game anymore.

Brendan Paul, who worked as Sean Combs’ assistant from 2022 to 2024, testified that he bought drugs for Combs several times, specifically mentioning marijuana, 2C, cocaine, ketamine, and ecstasy.
Paul explained that they would contact the drug dealer by text, and the dealer would then come to one of their homes. He said he’d been connected with the dealer through texts or phone calls, and also mentioned he’d been fired from jobs multiple times for things like forgetting a Lululemon fanny pack.
However, Paul vehemently denied being a “drug mule” for the rap mogul.

On June 18th, Judge Subramanian ended court for the day because one of the jurors was sick and couldn’t come back. Court will also be closed on June 19th for the Juneteenth holiday.
The judge announced that a juror is unwell and unable to attend court after experiencing dizziness. The juror’s partner informed the court of this issue, meaning they can’t continue with the trial today because the sick juror is a regular member of the jury.
The judge said it wasn’t clear if the juror’s sudden dizziness, nausea, and headache would pass quickly or become a continuing problem, but they will keep an eye on how things develop.
Because of the Juneteenth holiday on June 19th, Judge Subramanian announced that the trial will continue on June 20th with a shorter schedule, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Just after Judge Subramanian removed Juror No. 6 due to inconsistent answers about where they live, another juror is now potentially facing removal. This juror reportedly had an inappropriate conversation about the case with a past coworker. The judge questioned the juror and asked to examine their phone, according to NBC News.
By the end of the court session on June 16th, a decision about whether to dismiss the member hadn’t been reached.

Kanye West showed up at the New York City courthouse on June 13th to support Sean Combs. West was there for about half an hour and spent some time in the waiting area, but he didn’t go inside the courtroom itself. The courtroom is reserved for Combs’ family, lawyers, and members of the media and public who have been waiting in line for hours.

I remember hearing about a fight they had. Apparently, it happened after Jane took a trip to Las Vegas with another rapper and his wife, and things just went downhill from there.
In her testimony, she described how this escalated to watching sexual acts. She explained that while on the trip, they brought in Anton, a sex worker they frequently used, and a group of people observed him engaging in sex with a woman in their hotel room.
Jane informed Combs’ lawyer, Geragos, that the music executive was angry after he believed she went to a sexually suggestive party with another man.

On the 21st day of the Combs trial, prosecutor Maurene Comey told the court her team wants to dismiss one of the jurors.
She told Judge Subramanian, just before the jury came in, that they were hesitant to submit the letter because it seemed dishonest and raised significant concerns for them.
As a legal observer, I’ve been following the trial closely. Alexandra Shapiro, one of the defense attorneys, brought up Juror No. 6, who is a member of the Black community on the jury. She requested a little time – just a day or two – to prepare a written response and review relevant legal precedents. It’s all about making sure everything is thoroughly considered and legally sound.
Judge Subramanian stated he would postpone addressing any practical issues related to the juror until a ruling is reached.

On June 10th, Jane and Garagos had a heated discussion where he implied the witness was exchanging sexual favors for expensive gifts.
Attorney Mark Geragos reviewed text messages from November 2021 between Jane and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. The messages revealed that Jane was distressed by Combs’ infidelity, specifically questioning him about whether he had gifted another woman a Chanel bag after their encounter.
Jane said that she didn’t get a Chanel purse from Combs, telling Garagos that she “got trauma.”
When the attorney asked what a Bottega bag was, she replied, “I’m sure you have one.”
And when Geragos asked how much the item costs, Jane asked, “How much does my body cost?”
Jane was granted a 10-minute break following the exchange.

Jane stated that in 2022, after researching their relationship, she came to believe Combs engaged in, or was comfortable with, a dynamic where he watched her with other people. She used the term “cuckhold” to describe this.
She explained that the research helped her better understand what motivated people to enjoy watching their partners with other men. She said she wanted to thoroughly explore all the underlying reasons for this enjoyment.
Okay, so this witness basically said Puffy – I mean, Sean Combs – wanting all those ‘hotel nights’… it sounded exactly like what they described happening with Biggie, these secret meetups. And the theory? That maybe, just maybe, he was trying to figure things out about himself, you know, his own preferences. It’s wild, but when I heard it, it kinda made sense of everything! Like, a possible reason behind all of it…it’s fascinating and honestly, I haven’t stopped thinking about it.
She explained that some individuals might be secretly curious about things they feel embarrassed to explore personally, and instead live vicariously through another person’s experiences.

Jane stated she’d given Paul, an escort she and Combs hired several times, the nickname “Trifecta.” She explained that she used this name because she felt their sexual relationship was as successful as a winning team in basketball.
“I was Kobe Bryant and Paul was Shaq [O’Neil],” she told jurors. “Combs was Michael Jordan.”
She said Paul was “really nice” and explained that, if she were going to engage with sex workers, she preferred those who seemed kind and had a good personality.

Jane stated that Combs’ relationship with Khorram caused problems in her own romantic involvement with him.
I remember Jane telling me about how Khorram was always around Sean. It really put a strain on their relationship, and honestly, I think Khorram had a thing for Jane herself. It definitely seemed to affect how Sean acted towards her, like he was caught in the middle or influenced by her feelings.

On June 10th, Judge Subramanian rejected a request for a mistrial from Combs’ lawyers. They had argued that Ventura and her friend, Bryana Bongolan, falsely claimed Combs dangled them over a balcony on the 17th floor.
His attorneys, who had previously asked for a mistrial but were turned down, claimed in their latest filing that the prosecution acted improperly by presenting false testimony.
According to a recent legal filing, the government presented evidence during the trial that they either knew was false or should have known wasn’t true. This evidence concerned their claim that Mr. Combs threatened Bryana Bongolan by holding her over the balcony of Cassie Ventura’s apartment in September 2016. The filing argues that because of this, a mistrial should be declared to prevent an unjust conviction.

Jane alleged that the rap mogul had beaten her for hours June 2024.
Jane stated in court that an argument with Combs started because he was reportedly seeing a much younger woman – 25 years his junior. This escalated, Jane said, to her calling him a hurtful name and physically assaulting him by pushing his head against their kitchen counter.
The witness testified that she hid in the bedroom while Sean Combs tried to force the door open – photos of the damaged door were shown as evidence. She stated that while attempting to escape, Combs kicked her in the back of her leg, causing her to fall.
She told prosecutors that he pinned her to the ground in a chokehold, lifted her off her feet, and squeezed so tightly she couldn’t breathe. She said she was desperately trying to escape his hold.
Jane stated she fled her house and hid behind an outside wall for about two hours, hoping the person would go away, but they didn’t. She then said they both went back to his house, and she curled up in the backyard to shield herself while he reportedly attacked her.

Jane testified that the fight worsened when Combs supposedly hit her in return. She described him hitting her head repeatedly, then kicking her while yelling insults and continuing to punch her.
She alleged that he told her that she was “trying to take him away from his kids and his family.”
She testified that she told him, “No, I don’t want that. Please just leave me alone.” She said he then grabbed her arm and hair, and began pulling her back towards the house, dragging her by her hair and arm.
Jane reported that after the incident, she had two raised bumps about the size of golf balls on her forehead and a black eye.

Jane stated that Homeland Security Investigations raided her home—which Sean “Diddy” Combs had paid for in March 2023—as well as several other properties owned by him. She explained that agents arrived at her house, and she immediately contacted Combs’s head of security to inform him about the raid.

In December 2023, Jane claimed a powerful person threatened to share intimate videos of them with the father of her child.
Jane testified that as her relationship with Combs fell apart, he told her he had nothing to fear from releasing the videos. She described it as a relentless series of pressuring phone calls.
Jane texted Khorram about what happened, and this conversation was submitted as evidence. In the messages, Jane stated that Combs was threatening to release a video, and she claimed she had been significantly impaired by drugs in the footage.
She explained she needed space from Combs to heal from the emotional pain he had inflicted.
Jane told the court that Khorram assured her that Combs would not use the footage.

I was really struck by Jane’s testimony. She explained that certain claims in the lawsuit filed against Sean Combs back in November 2023 – the one that was eventually settled out of court – sadly echoed what she had personally gone through with him. It felt incredibly important because it showed a pattern of behavior, and hearing her connect those dots was powerful.
She became overwhelmed with emotion while testifying, telling the jury she nearly passed out – and may have actually done so. She explained that three particular pages of something contained deeply upsetting details mirroring her own experiences.
Jane, a participant in the leaked ‘hotel nights’ conversations, said the revelations felt deeply personal – like witnessing her own life unfold. This prompted her to directly message Sean Combs with her concerns.
In screenshots presented as evidence, she described reading details of her own past sexual trauma in Ventura’s lawsuit. She expressed feeling deeply disturbed, stating the descriptions—including references to drug use during those times—were almost identical to her experiences. She accused him of anticipating this outcome and manipulating her, leading her to question her sanity.
The messages expressed deep distress, stating the sender felt pressured into repeated sexual acts. They described feeling invalidated and dismissed regarding their trauma, leading to feelings of violation and a belief that what happened was sexual exploitation.
Combs then phoned Jane and secretly taped their discussion, which was presented as evidence. During the call, he reminded her they had shared experiences and stated this was a time he required her presence.
Unaware she was being recorded, Jane told Combs she felt nauseous after reviewing Ventura’s documents.

Jane stated that during her involvement in “Hotel Nights” with Combs and male escorts, she frequently used ecstasy. However, on one occasion, she chose to remain sober while engaging in sexual activity with three men.
She testified that she had been with several men earlier that night. She vomited, and then Sean entered the room, reassuring her that she would feel better and suggesting they go outside.
Jane said that at the end of the night, she felt “absolutely terrible.”
