Everyone’s getting excited about Capy Castaway, a charming new game with a sweet art style. You play as a baby capybara named Capy and his friend, a crow called Corvi, and travel through a world recovering from a big flood, helping other animals along the way.
ScreenRant is offering a first look at some of the interesting characters you’ll encounter in this relaxed adventure game. Each character has their own unique personality and story. We got to meet some of them while playing an early preview, and they’re also featured in the demo available during Steam Next Fest. Even though the demo is brief, it provides a good idea of what to expect when the full game launches later this year.
The Barbary Gang is made up of three young, playful sheep – Bab, Barb, and another sibling. Like Capy, they’ve gotten lost without their parents. Bab, the oldest, tries to act responsible and tends to be careful, while Barb is usually the sarcastic one who gets into mischief.
Lastly, there’s Barry (they/them), the most playful and inquisitive member of the group. The Barbary Gang might be keeping secrets, though, as they also appear to have a strange link to the Spirit World.
We also meet Bread, a quirky reindeer who’s into punk rock and philosophy. Her real name is Gingerbread, but she prefers Bread – it’s shorter and feels more her style than the fancier ‘Ginger’.
The main raccoon character in the game Capy Capabara is based on a famous raccoon from Toronto, and is also named Conrad. In the game, Conrad is a laid-back but opinionated character who likes to find lost objects and trade them for rewards – and he’s always sporting a stylish fanny pack!
Keep an eye out while playing the Capy Castaway demo – you’ll spot a pair of highland cows! One of them, Babybell, is a lively and happy young cow who gets a little worried about her mother, Bluebell, and wants to cheer everyone up. Bluebell is a sweet and nurturing mom to both Babybell and Capy, but she’s also expecting her own calf soon, and the delivery could happen on this unfamiliar island after the flood.
Even though we don’t know exactly when Capy Castaway will be fully released, you can play a free demo now as part of the Steam Next Fest. Many people are predicting it will be a particularly charming and relaxing game, so it’s worth trying out the demo while it’s available!
