The story of Attack on Titan is finished – both the manga and anime have made it clear that Eren Jaeger and the Scout Regiment won’t be coming back. However, despite creator Hajime Isayama previously indicating he wouldn’t revisit this world, more Attack on Titan content is on the way! Studio MAPPA will be celebrating its 15th anniversary later this week by sharing updates on its most popular series, and Attack on Titan is taking center stage. While we don’t know exactly what will be revealed, a new preview has been released to build excitement for the event.
To mark its fifteenth anniversary, the studio MAPPA has released a new image from Attack on Titan that revisits the aftermath of Eren Jaeger’s death and the end of the Rumbling. The image shows Mikasa visiting Eren’s grave under a famous tree, even though she was the one who ended his life. Despite Eren’s destructive actions in the anime’s finale, his friends still mourn him. The artwork was created by several veteran animators from the series, including Yuichiro Hayashi, Tomohiro Kishi, Iku Onishi, Yumena Ohama, and Yusuke Tannawa. You can see the commemorative poster below.

Attack on Titan: Sequel Potential

Though the conflict between Paradis, Marley, Eren Jaeger, and the Survey Corps has ended, creator Hajime Isayama continues to explore the world of Attack on Titan. While a direct sequel manga, Attack on Titan 2, isn’t currently planned, Isayama is happy to create new stories within the established universe. Recently, he returned with a short story titled “Attack on Titan: Bad Boy,” which offers a glimpse into Captain Levi’s life before he became a renowned Titan slayer.
Interestingly, there’s a potential path for MAPPA to revisit Attack on Titan that people haven’t thought about much. While Wit Studio animated the first three seasons, MAPPA handled the final season. Given how popular remakes and revivals are in anime now, it could make sense for MAPPA to reboot the series by re-animating those earlier seasons with their signature style.
MAPPA is kicking off its fifteenth-anniversary celebration this week, starting June 19th! The event will highlight several popular series including Attack on Titan, as well as Jujutsu Kaisen, Oblivion Battery, Ranma 1/2, Chainsaw Man, and Dorohedoro. Keep checking back with egmr.ru later this week for all the exciting announcements about MAPPA’s future anime plans.
