We might see the God of War sequel, currently known as God of War Laufey, released within the next year. PlayStation is heavily hinting at a release “coming soon.”
The company originally announced this during its online presentation earlier this month and is now emphasizing it again in promotional emails.
A recent PlayStation email, titled “God of War Laufey is coming soon,” reminded players about the game after its initial gameplay reveal and confirmed it’s “coming soon to PlayStation 5.” Along with frequent posts on social media, this has led fans to believe a release date is near.
There are also statements from insiders to back the suggestions up.
According to trusted sources, the next God of War game, currently known as Laufey, is expected to release in the first half of 2027. This would give Sony a major game release for the first six months of the year, with the potential for a new Naughty Dog title, Intergalactic, to follow later in 2027 if development stays on track.
If everything goes according to plan, I’m pretty confident we’ll finally get a release date this year. PlayStation usually does another State of Play livestream in September, and then there’s The Game Awards in December – both seem like perfect opportunities for them to announce when God of War Laufey is coming out.
Sony hasn’t typically made promises like these with their PlayStation exclusives before, which suggests we might get to play God of War Laufey relatively soon. It would definitely be an exciting start to the new year.
