Tonight’s WWE NXT: 5 Hits & 3 Misses (July 29)

As a passionate moviegoer, tonight’s WWE NXT was like a thrilling blockbuster packed with intense rivalries and beloved characters taking center stage. Yet, this blockbuster had its own secret twists and even a legendary WWE figure adding to the suspense before wrapping up. Despite the champions gracing us with their presence, it was the challengers and emerging stars who truly shone, making for an engaging evening of heated exchanges and electrifying in-ring battles. Tonight, we dive into the most memorable moments, evaluating whether they were triumphant successes or disappointing flops, so let’s begin with one of tonight’s standout highlights!

Hit: Ms. Parker, Ms. Parker

.@Jaida_Parkerwwe went OFF!

— WWE (@WWE) July 30, 2025

Following Stephanie Vaquer, Roxanne Perez, and Giulia’s promotion to the main roster, a competition emerged among several promising newcomers to determine who would take their place. Currently, there are two standout contenders vying for that top position, and without a doubt, one of them is Jaida Parker herself.

Every time Parker’s music plays, it’s evident that the crowd is utterly captivated by her, and this was no exception when she faced Jazmyn Nyx tonight. Just like every other match, she enjoys herself to the fullest until the bell rings, then it’s all about business. Her unique blend of style and powerful offense is always a joy to watch. What truly sets her apart, though, is her charisma on the microphone. Tonight, this was evident once more during her interaction with Blake Monroe and Lola Vice. While Vice and Monroe were good, Parker’s intensity in promos is currently unmatched in NXT. In the first person: Every time my music plays, it’s clear that the crowd can’t get enough of me, and tonight was no exception when I faced Jazmyn Nyx. Just like every other match, I enjoy myself until the bell rings, then it’s all about business. My unique blend of style and powerful offense is always a joy to watch. What truly sets me apart, though, is my charisma on the microphone. Tonight, this was evident once more during my interaction with Blake Monroe and Lola Vice. While they were good, I bring a level of intensity to my promos that simply can’t be touched at the moment in NXT.

Hit: Je’Von is NXT

Discussing the rising talents in our sphere, we can’t ignore Je’Von Evans, an exciting newcomer. What makes him captivating is his outstanding agility and his daring spirit, although he’s yet to make a significant impact through speech. Tonight, WWE audience caught a sneak peek of Evans reaching his full potential, and if this trend continues, it might become challenging to prevent Evans from skyrocketing in popularity.

In a recent matchup with one of NXT’s top talkers, Trick Williams, Evans demonstrated impressive skill and fit right in. Off-stage, Evans has been impressing everyone he interacts with, but it’s when we get to the ring where Evans truly shines. At times, he’s simply extraordinary! He doesn’t shy away from using flashy moves, and tonight, they seemed particularly effective. The coast-to-coast move he attempted and successfully executed was a highlight that won’t easily be forgotten. With his talent in NXT, it feels like Evans is reaching his full potential, which should worry just about everyone.

Miss: Past Time for a Main Roster Call-Up

.@WesLee_WWE is making a STATEMENT

— WWE (@WWE) July 30, 2025

Discussing Evans, it’s worth noting that his opponent, Wes Lee, is exceptionally skilled in NXT. Time and again, Lee has demonstrated his versatility as one of WWE’s most adaptable performers, seamlessly adjusting his abilities to face any opponent WWE assigns him. Despite being the leader of High Ryze, these fights highlight that it’s long overdue for Lee to step up from NXT and join the main roster.

Although an extended Lee NXT Championship tenure might be appealing, such a scenario seems unlikely given other contestants vying for the title. If his intention isn’t to vie for this championship, one may wonder why he remains, particularly since both Raw and SmackDown could utilize his skills. If he belongs to a group here, he could as well do so on the main roster. He might even establish a new tag team to bolster Raw’s tag team division. However, his current lack of direction seems like a wasted potential for someone with Lee’s abilities.

Miss: Something’s Not Clicking

“You just gotta ask!”

Now was that so hard, @KaleDixonWWE and @WWE_URIAH?!

— WWE (@WWE) July 30, 2025

I’m as ardent a supporter of Chase U as Nick Valdez from ComicBook, and while I can’t vouch for his feelings, in my opinion, the new version of Chase U 2.0 isn’t living up to expectations. It was disheartening when the initial version of Chase U shut down, and after updates were made and Thea Hail left, it appeared challenging to recreate the enchantment that the original had with fresh faces.

Regrettably, despite Kale Dixon and Uriah Connors’ efforts to generate enjoyable moments, there hasn’t been significant progress since the reformation of Chase U. Compared to its original form, something intangible—a sort of magic—appears to be absent, making it difficult to pinpoint exactly what’s missing.

Hit: Blake Gets Vicious

The Blake Monroe character in NXT has experienced some ups and downs, but things seem to be picking up for her. Her recent heel turn against Jordynne Grace was a turning point, and she’s since delivered her best promo since joining WWE. The details of Monroe’s entrance are impressive, and these elements are now being combined with a heel persona that is quite ruthless, particularly after the brutal attack on Grace that occurred tonight.

Instead of a physical attack last week, Monroe opted for a different approach this time, criticizing Grace. She brought up Grace’s past as an extra on WWE TV and made more comments about her appearance, even displaying photos on the screen. This tactic is known as heel tactics, and it’s causing a growing negative reaction from the audience, which should make the upcoming confrontation between them more impactful.

Hit: Nia vs Lash

Over the past year, not many NXT stars have shone as brightly as Lash Legend, who’s made a significant impact during various Premium Live Events and shows, including Evolution. Her performance at Evolution was particularly notable, and WWE is now leveraging this success to create a feud that will undoubtedly boost her profile even more when she eventually moves to the main roster.

As a passionate moviegoer, I’d rephrase it like this: The heated rivalry will now be with Nia Jax, the one who I eliminated at Evolution. To say she was displeased about that is an understatement, and tonight she not only derailed my match against Fallon Henley but also ignited a feud that seems poised to bounce between SmackDown and NXT. With my imminent move to the main roster, this could be the perfect moment to create maximum impact and propel me into stardom in the most effective way possible.

Hit: Can’t Help but Like Him

As real as it gets.

You’re an inspiration, @mylesborne_wwe!

— WWE (@WWE) July 30, 2025

Among the charming personalities on NXT’s roster, Myles Bourne consistently captivates audiences, particularly when he speaks. His brief rivalry with NXT Champion Oba Femi left a strong impression, and it appears that NXT is positioning Bourne for further prominence against Lexis King. Tonight’s interview allowed Bourne to share his unique perspective, and despite its familiarity, the ease with which he tells his story and the sincerity he conveys are striking. It’s genuine and heartwarming. With more moments like this, Bourne’s promising career will shine even brighter.

Miss: Fun While It Lasted

Tonight’s NXT episode wrapped up with the appearance of legendary wrestler Santino Marella, aiming to seize Ethan Page’s North American Championship. The TNA leadership was entertainingly nostalgic, performing splits and hinting at Cobra’s return. While it was enjoyable, the match didn’t build enough tension to suggest that Santino could truly challenge Page, and it was relatively short-lived, limiting its potential for a grand finale. Despite this, there were moments of fun, but overall, it fell short as a main event, although we always appreciate seeing Santino in the ring.
