Tessa Bailey Teases It Happened One Summer Film With Nina Dobrev

Tessa Bailey is thrilled it’s truly happening this summer.

The author of It Happened One Summer, whose novel is being made into a movie with Nina Dobrev and Tyler Hoechlin, announced that the story of Piper Bellinger and Brendan Taggart will be hitting the big screen sooner than fans expect.

Bailey shared with TopMob News that filming will begin on July 13th. Speaking at an event celebrating Amazon’s Best Books of the Year So Far at Amazon Books’ Literary Lounge, Bailey said it still feels unbelievable to be invited to the set, saying, ‘It seems surreal that they’re giving me dates and welcoming me!’

Watching Piper, a Los Angeles influencer sent to live in the Pacific Northwest, and the practical sea captain Brendan fall in love in Westport, Washington, is sure to be the most memorable part of her season.

Bailey shared their enthusiasm for the actors taking on the roles, saying, “They’re both incredibly talented and hilarious, and I can’t wait to see their take on the characters Piper and Brendan. I think they’re going to do a fantastic job.”

In fact, Bailey is especially excited to see how Piper’s softer side translates on-screen.

I was most drawn to the moments when Piper showed her vulnerable side to Brendan,” Bailey said. “She’s never really allowed herself to be truly open with a romantic partner, or even many people besides her sister.

The author, whose story ‘S’more of You’ is featured in Amazon’s ‘Summer Lovin” collection, explained that it’s difficult for the character to admit she’s lost her identity outside of being a ‘party person’ and doesn’t know where she fits in. She’s excited to see how another character reacts to that vulnerability.

Bailey, known for writing about everything from crab fishing to golf and true crime, is open to exploring a potential new romance in her books. While nothing’s definite right now, she definitely wouldn’t mind seeing it happen.

People have wanted to see romance in Formula One racing for a long time. It’s clearly popular at the moment, and I think American fans are really starting to understand and enjoy the sport itself. There’s plenty of drama, a rich history, and lots of glamorous events where secret meetings could happen.

Bailey mentioned having Formula One on their mind for a while now. They aren’t sure if they’ll ever have the opportunity to pursue it, but expressed a strong interest in doing so.
