Although Microsoft has yet to make an official announcement, there’s strong evidence suggesting that the recently released Surface Laptop version is a collaboration between Microsoft and the latest Smurfs film, which premiered in cinemas about two weeks ago.
The Smurface Laptop comes equipped with Snapdragon X Plus System on Chip (SoC), 16GB of memory (RAM), and 512GB Universal Flash Storage (UFS). This device is based on the recently launched 13-inch version of the Surface Laptop, introduced in May. It boasts a 60Hz touchscreen within a smaller casing compared to the 13.8-inch model.
In the past few weeks, Microsoft hasn’t just introduced one special edition Surface Laptop; they also unveiled a unique 50th anniversary Surface Laptop 7 in April. However, unlike regular sales, they didn’t plan to sell these but instead offered fans a chance to win 50 of them.
It seems that Microsoft temporarily offered exclusive 50th anniversary versions of the Surface Laptop 7 through their own employee store. Unfortunately, these models aren’t accessible to the general public, but having a connection with a Microsoft employee could potentially get you one.
Unlike the Smurface Laptop, it can be purchased publicly on Amazon in the United States. Unfortunately, it seems that this model is exclusive to the US market, which means Smurf enthusiasts residing outside the U.S. cannot purchase one.
It’s quite unusual to think about a partnership between Microsoft and the Smurfs, as the only apparent link seems to be their names, with “Smurfs” resembling the initial letters of “Surface”. Additionally, it’s worth noting that while the new 13-inch Surface Laptop is designed for a younger audience, I find it hard to imagine that the age group for Smurfs would align well with the intended users of the Surface Laptop.
