Starting August 23, Nintendo has revealed plans to increase the prices for all versions of the Switch console (including the standard model, the OLED version, and the Lite) within the U.S. market.
The firm announced that these price adjustments are applicable solely in the U.S., a move they explained was driven by “market circumstances.” However, it’s not explicitly stated, but it seems plausible that the increase in prices could be linked to the tariffs enforced by the U.S. on imported goods.
In line with this adjustment, the standard Nintendo Switch model will retail for $339.99, which is approximately a $40 rise in cost. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch OLED will see an increase of about $50, putting its new price at $399.99. Lastly, the Nintendo Switch Lite’s price will be set at $229.99, signifying a boost of around $30.
It’s worth noting that although Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 won’t experience a price increase, certain accessories associated with it are expected to become more expensive. Additionally, items like the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo and some amiibo figures may also see a rise in their prices.
The news follows on the heels of Nintendo disclosing sales figures for the Nintendo Switch, the upcoming Switch 2, and a range of games for both systems. Additionally, the company shared that the game Mario Kart World surpassed 5.5 million sales in just its first month.
The prices for Nintendo Switch consoles have been raised at Target, as follows:
* Nintendo Switch (OLED model) – $399.99
* Nintendo Switch (non-OLED model) – $339.99
* Nintendo Switch Lite – $229.99You can find the updated prices here: buff.ly/aul4yVc
