Jesse Eisenberg might be leaving his hoodie at the cleaners.
It’s undecided whether the actor who starred in “The Social Network” will reprise his role for the upcoming sequel of the 2010 movie, with Aaron Sorkin handling both screenwriting and directing duties.
Currently, reports indicate that Jeremy Strong, who previously starred in Succession, may be considering a role for an upcoming project, as per The Hollywood Reporter. Yet, the character he could portray or whether any of the original cast members like Andrew Garfield, Armie Hammer, and Justin Timberlake will join him are not yet disclosed.
In a chat with TopMob News last November, Eisenberg, who played Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg on screen, hinted playfully that he might not mind slipping into Zuckerberg’s flip-flops for another round.
He declared, ‘I’m an actor in this field.’ We’re open to any roles we’re given. Whether it’s a commercial for a Pinto car or a small part in someone’s homemade film for their child, you can count on me to be there.
The Oscar-nominated individual felt no apprehension about potentially spoiling a successful project by participating in the follow-up, stating casually, “No, I don’t harbor such concerns.
As a committed participant, I wouldn’t mind being in a Pinto and advocating, “Everyone, consider buying the Pinto… or even an Edsel!” for that matter. To me, it doesn’t matter which car we’re discussing. I’m just thrilled to be part of the process.
Instead of focusing solely on the inception of Facebook (a movie that earned three Oscars, with Sorkin winning Best Adapted Screenplay), the sequel will explore the transformation and development of Facebook, now rebranded as Meta, throughout the years.
According to Sorkin, speaking on The Town podcast in April 2024, he holds Facebook accountable for the events of January 6th. He argues that Facebook has been manipulating its algorithm to prioritize content that is highly divisive. This strategy, as Sorkin sees it, boosts user engagement.
He mentioned, “That’s how you reach ‘the infinite scroll,’ a term often used within the corridors of Facebook.
As we eagerly anticipate the release date of the next installment of “The Social Network“, here are some other films that will soon be gracing the silver screen. Enjoy!
