Invincible Creator Teases Improved Animation for Future Seasons

Work on seasons four and beyond of the hit show Invincible is currently underway, and the series creator hinted at improvements in the animation as more episodes are released. The third season of Invincible concluded earlier this year, with Season 4 set to premiere next year. One aspect that fans have been eagerly anticipating is how the visuals will evolve as the series progresses, especially when all the elements come together in motion.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2025 last month, Invincible, as reported by IGN, left fans eager for more with its tantalizing teasers. During this event, series co-creator Robert Kirkman was questioned about the animation’s direction in upcoming seasons. Reflecting on the noticeable changes shown during Mark and Conquest’s fight at the end of season three, Kirkman hinted that the animation quality would enhance significantly as the series progresses into future seasons.

Invincible’s Animation Is Going to Look Better in Future Seasons

Kirkman explained that as our collaboration with the foreign animation studios improves, the quality of the animation will grow from season to season. He added that every series tends to change and develop over time, and he sees great potential in ours. In particular, the fight scene at the end of Season 3 gives a hint of what’s to come and the heights we aim to reach. As the show continues, we hope to achieve those heights even more consistently.

The animation in ‘Invincible’ has been the main topic of discussions regarding the animated series so far, and according to Kirkman, it has indeed evolved in terms of motion. The fight scenes displayed in Season 3 appear significantly better than those in Season 1, indicating changes behind the scenes. However, these improvements might be a constant aspect if the series adheres to its annual release schedule. If the animated series aims to put out a new season each year, it may not have the luxury of dedicating more time to animation enhancements.

What’s Next for Invincible?

The fourth season of the series “Invincible” is expected to air sometime in 2026, although Amazon Prime Video hasn’t provided a specific release schedule or date at this point. Additionally, it’s been confirmed that Season 5 is currently being developed and progressing rapidly. Matthew Rhys has been announced as the voice actor for the new villain Dinosaurus, while Thragg, previously hinted by Kirkman to appear in the upcoming season, has also been cast.

Kirkman estimates that approximately 7 to 9 seasons might be required to fully adapt the ‘Invincible’ comic series. During San Diego Comic-Con 2025, he shared this insight on the potential length of the animated series. He expressed optimism, stating, ‘We’ll see. With strong support from Amazon Prime, things are going great, and we couldn’t be more excited about the progress.’ So, fingers crossed and looking forward to it!
