Crunchyroll has released a trailer for the return of a previously controversial anime this Spring. It’s been a busy year for the streaming service, with several exclusive anime releases this Winter, and more planned for Spring. While many popular shows are returning in April, fans are particularly surprised – and excited – to see this one come back for a fifth season.
The fifth season of Rent-a-Girlfriend is set to premiere in April, and the creators have been sharing details about the continuing Hawaii arc. Now, fans have a first look at what’s to come with the release of the official trailer for the new season. You can watch the trailer below.
Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 5 Confirms April 2026 Release
Season 5 of Rent-a-Girlfriend is scheduled to premiere in April as part of the Spring 2026 anime lineup, but the exact release date hasn’t been announced yet. It’s also currently unknown which streaming services will carry the new season outside of Japan. However, the first four seasons are currently available on Crunchyroll, and fans are hoping the new season will be added there as well. Recent updates have provided some important details about the upcoming season.
The trailer for Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 5 revealed the opening theme song, “Non Scenario Etude,” which is sung and composed by Sora Amamiya, who voices the character Chizuru Mizuhara. The ending theme, “204-goshitsu,” will be performed by Nakigoto. This new season actually completes the previously announced fourth season, which was split into two parts and is now being released as two separate seasons. The same team that worked on the previous seasons will be returning for this one.
What’s New for Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 5?

The fifth season of Rent-a-Girlfriend will jump right into the Hawaii arc when it starts in April, meaning big conflicts are ahead for Chizuru and her friends. This arc is well-known from the original manga, and fans have been eagerly anticipating seeing certain scenes animated. After a long wait, this new season will finally bring those moments to the screen.
The series Rent-a-Girlfriend keeps generating discussion – and that’s a big reason for its popularity. It’s actually lasted longer than many huge action series like Dragon Ball, and the main love stories still haven’t progressed much since the beginning. It’s a messy situation, but fans are clearly enjoying the ride.
