Among the numerous tales spun by the Mobile Suit Gundam series, Gundam Wing resonates deeply with countless anime enthusiasts. Debuting as one of the pioneering anime shows on Cartoon Network’s Toonami, Gundam Wing served as an initiation for many Western fans into the realm of Gundam mecha franchise. Despite no official announcements regarding a revival of the anime adaptation as a new sequel series, a fresh manga has surfaced, transporting us once more into the universe shared by Heero Yuy and his fellow pilots.
Starting from August 26th, the magazine “Monthly Gundam Ace” launched a new series called “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: 0.5 Point Half Preventer-7.” Although the title seems lengthy, it’s a delight for many Gundam enthusiasts. As part of the 30th anniversary festivities for Gundam Wing, this is how the magazine describes the series: “To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Gundam Wing, Sakura Asagi and Katsuyuki Sumizawa have collaborated on a new manga story. This narrative will present a fresh tale that connects the events between “Endless Waltz ” and “Frozen Teardrop“. Have a look at this exciting continuation of the Gundam saga below.

The Gundams Are Flying High
The iconic Gundam series may not have officially announced a new anime adaptation for “Wing,” but it has been eager to revisit its original universes with updated storylines. For example, the franchise recently gave a fresh take on the timeline that launched it all with the series Gundam GQuuuuuuX, where Char stepped into the first-ever mech suit. The franchise also saw significant success by revisiting the universe of Gundam SEED, as the movie Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom has become the highest-grossing film in the franchise’s history.
The story line Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: 0.5 Point Half Preventer-7 isn’t the first instance of Gundam Wing resurfacing. In fact, as far back as 2010, a light novel named New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop brought us back to the initial universe with a twist. Set years after Gundam Wing’s finale, Heero finds himself waking up from a lengthy slumber only to realize the world has moved on significantly during his frozen slumber. Here’s hoping we get an animated series and adaptation of “0.5” in the near future!
Regarding future plans for the Gundam anime, this winter is set to debut the second installment of the Hathaway’s Flash trilogy. Entitled Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, the movie continues from where the initial film released in 2021 ended, focusing on the character who is known as the successor to both Amuro and Char. Japan will see the film’s premiere early next year, but a North American release date has yet to be announced.
