Even the most popular manga series are created by people, and those creators sometimes need to prioritize their health. We’ve seen artists like Eiichiro Oda and Kohei Horikoshi take breaks to recover, and now another major manga artist, Aki Hamazi, is doing the same. This means fans will have to wait an undetermined amount of time for the next chapter of Bocchi the Rock!
This week, Aki Hamazi, the creator of the popular manga Bocchi the Rock, announced she is taking a break from the series. While she didn’t share specifics about her health, she explained the break is due to physical health issues she’s been dealing with for several months. She clarified that it’s a physical, not mental, health concern and that she’s prioritizing her recovery before returning to work on the manga. Hamazi apologized to fans who were looking forward to new chapters and assured them she’ll be back when she’s feeling better.
We have an update regarding the temporary hiatus of “Bocchi the Rock!”. Please see the March issue of Manga Time Kirara MAX, which includes a notice and a message from the author, Aki Hamaji. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience to all our readers who were looking forward to new chapters. #BocchiTheRock

Bocchi The Rock Will Return
Although the manga Bocchi The Rock is currently on break with no confirmed return date, a second season of the anime is planned. The author, Hamazi, shared this news while announcing the manga hiatus, and promised to make the next installment even better when she resumes work on it.
I’m currently scouting locations in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka for the band’s upcoming tour. We’re also making great progress on Season 2 of the anime! Both projects are at a really important stage right now. I can’t reveal details just yet, but I have some exciting news coming soon. It’s taking a little extra time, but I’m working hard to make the next season even better. When the series returns, I’ll do my best to make Bocchi the Rock! even more fun to watch. Thank you for your continued support and please stay tuned!
After the hit first season of Bocchi The Rock – from the studio behind popular anime like Spy x Family and The Promised Neverland – the series continued to thrive in theaters. Similar to Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen, Bocchi The Rock released a compilation film that recapped its first season, offering fans a great way to revisit the story.
