just got a surprising filming update.
I was completely hooked by John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place when it came out in 2018 – the story of the Abbott family just trying to survive in a world where sound means death was brilliant. Then, A Quiet Place Part 2 in 2020 continued that thrilling ride. We recently got a look at the beginning of it all with A Quiet Place: Day One in 2024, and now it’s confirmed – the Abbotts will be back for another chapter, A Quiet Place Part 3, hitting theaters on July 30, 2027. I can’t wait!
John Krasinski recently told Collider that filming for A Quiet Place Part 3 will begin the week of May 11th. He admitted he’s feeling both nervous and stressed about starting, saying, “We start filming one week from today, and this is how nervous and stressed out I am.”
John Krasinski is currently promoting the new series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War, which will be available on Prime Video starting May 20th. He says the promotional work has been a good break from filming the next A Quiet Place movie. “It’s been a lot of work, so I’m happy to have the distraction,” Krasinski shared. “We’re all really excited about it.”
Details about the plot of the third movie are still secret, but the ending of A Quiet Place Part 2 strongly suggests where the story is headed. The film concludes with Reagan (Millicent Simmonds) using her cochlear implant to send out a signal that interferes with the aliens’ ability to hunt, and this will likely be a crucial element in the next installment.
John Krasinski hasn’t shared details about the future of the Abbott family or how the cochlear implant will play a role, but he has confirmed that the third film will conclude their story. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to finish this chapter,” he explains. “I always envisioned this as a three-part story, and I think we’ve found a natural way to bring it to a close.”
Both viewers and critics have generally enjoyed all three A Quiet Place films. They’ve all performed well in theaters, as the chart shows, so there’s a lot of excitement for Krasinski’s final chapter in the Abbott family’s story.
| Title | Rotten Tomatoes Critics’ Score | Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter | Worldwide Box Office |
|---|---|---|---|
| A Quiet Place | 96% | 83% | $340M |
| A Quiet Place Part 2 | 91% | 92% | $297M |
| A Quiet Place: Day One | 86% | 72% | $261M |
It’s not yet known if John Krasinski will act in the third movie, though he appeared in a flashback scene in Part II. The film will definitely have a strong cast, bringing back Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe, as well as Cillian Murphy as Emmett. Recent reports also confirm that Jason Clarke, Jack O’Connell, and Katy O’Brian are joining the cast.
Now that filming for A Quiet Place Part 3 is about to begin, we can expect to learn more about the movie – and maybe even see some early photos – in the weeks and months ahead. While the movie won’t be released for over a year, production is definitely underway and progressing quickly.
