Absolute Superman Is One Step Away From Becoming a Killer

The Conceptual Cosmos emphasizes on setting heroes in difficult situations, making them strive harder than ever before to prevent catastrophe. Each hero has experienced adversity, but none have had their essence and character tested like Absolute Superman. Unlike being nurtured by the kind-hearted Kents of Earth, Superman was brought up on Krypton, witnessing its disintegration due to the self-centered rulers. Since his arrival on Earth, he’s been pursued by Lazarus Corp and people pressuring him to destroy, and after years of evading capture, he’s now been taken into custody, with them attempting to transform him into a beast.

Superman isn’t only battling to protect people, but also to stay a hero amidst a world that often pushes him towards becoming a villain. People tend to dictate his actions more than understanding him as an individual. Overwhelmed by anger and hatred, Superman has held onto his principles tightly. On the brink of exhaustion, both emotionally and spiritually, he’s struggling to remain true to himself. As preparations are made for the Kansas battle, Superman is unaware that he’s not just saving lives, but also fighting a symbolic battle for the soul of the entire universe.

Superman Pushed to the Edge

Over a prolonged period, watching his newly discovered world self-destruct, Superman was apprehended and subjected to inhumane torment by the mad AI, Brainiac. The last Kryptonian was subjected to countless simulations where he was coerced into committing massacres, a process designed to harden him and transform him into a ruthless killer. Despite being goaded, Superman never struck at the Science Council of Krypton or its Peacemakers, nor did he harm innocents. Even under torture, he continued to inspire rebellion in the Brainiac clones by reminding them of their mistreatment, though such attempts ultimately resulted in futility. Superman’s unyielding spirit remained unbroken, yet it had its limits. When Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and General Lane attempted a rescue mission, Superman experienced another vision of the Kents commanding him to annihilate everyone. Upon awakening, he tightened his grip around the grinning villain’s neck, employing his solar powers to shatter the building.

The Importance of Superman’s Spirit

In this critical moment, I find myself standing as an advocate for Superman. His strength is pushed to its absolute limit, and he’s teetering on the edge of unleashing devastation upon everyone, transforming into the monster that the al Ghuls aspire for him to become, and that Darkseid requires.

Superman’s goodness isn’t merely vital for saving lives around him; it is the cornerstone of the DC Universe. Superman’s beacon of hope serves as the foundation upon which every world in the DC Multiverse is constructed, except for the Absolute universe. Darkseid manipulated this universe to harvest Omega Energy from negativity and grow powerful enough to obliterate the Prime Universe. What better way to extinguish hope than corrupting the very embodiment of hope itself?

Darkseid has clearly taken a personal interest in Absolute Superman, bestowing the al Ghuls with the Father Box, which whispered to Superman about his transformation into a monster.

In the upcoming issue, it seems unlikely that Superman will resort to killing anyone, instead choosing a different path that initiates the Battle for Kansas aimed at testing and potentially breaking his spirit. It’s crucial that Superman emerges victorious, but in an ethical manner. If he succumbs to his darker instincts and starts killing his enemies, which is uncharacteristic of the true Superman, Darkseid would win. This would lead to the devastation of all hope across the universe, giving Darkseid control over the Prime Universe, enslaving the Legion of Super-Heroes, and ultimately destroying the future every hero has fought for. To prevent this, Superman must fight, win, but not at the expense of his principles. The Man of Tomorrow needs to demonstrate that being a hero means finding a more compassionate solution. If one doesn’t exist, he creates it. However, he can’t do it alone; his friends Jimmy and Lois play a crucial role in helping him overcome this challenge. They are inspired by Superman’s kindness and must work together to save him, so he can save everyone.
