Writer Kelly Thompson has announced that the character Ares will appear in Absolute, marking his debut in that universe.
The Absolute Universe is a huge hit in the comic book world. Every month, fans are rushing to stores to buy the latest issue. The new universe features many beloved characters with updated looks and fresh backstories. Keep an eye out for Ares, who will be appearing in the Absolute Universe soon.
Ares Could Be an Immediate Threat to Wonder Woman
Ares is poised to be a major immediate threat to Absolute Wonder Woman. Inspired by the Greek god of war, Ares’s backstory—being the son of Zeus and Hera—will likely remain consistent with mythology. Fans are eagerly anticipating the chaos he’ll bring when he enters the Absolute Universe.
Ares first appeared in Wonder Woman #1 back in 1942. Since then, he’s become known for many dramatic acts of villainy. He’s taken control of the realm of Hades, journeyed to the future to steal Wonder Man’s body, engineered the deadly being Genocide, and even used his telekinetic powers to overcome the truth-detecting abilities of Wonder Woman’s Lasso.
Premiering in October 2024, Absolute Wonder Woman offers a fresh take on Princess Diana’s origin story. Unlike previous versions, this Wonder Woman wasn’t raised on the island of Themyscira; she was instead taken to Hell as a baby. This unique upbringing has quickly made her one of the most compelling new characters in the DC universe. The series has been a hit with both fans and critics, earning accolades like two Eisner Awards for Best New Series and Best Coloring, recognizing Jordie Bellaire’s stunning artwork.
Ares is a terrifying opponent, and facing a version of Wonder Woman raised in Hell could actually make him stronger. Because Ares thrives on fighting and chaos, her own harshness and willingness to do whatever it takes might end up working in his favor and leading to her defeat.
Thompson’s suggestion that the two are a couple has gotten fans talking. People are now wondering if Ares will be a good guy in the story. Some theories suggest he might have trained Wonder Woman, or that they could even be family.
They’ve clashed in numerous battles throughout their history. Although the specifics of their connection within the Absolute Universe are still a mystery, fans are excited to see Ares appear in the Absolute Wonder Woman comic series.
Absolute Wonder Woman can be read wherever comic books are sold.
