Academy Responds to Teyana Taylor Being Pushed by Security at Oscars

Hopefully, there won’t be another battle with security on Oscars night.

Following an incident where Teyana Taylor was pushed by a security guard while trying to reach the stage after her film, One Battle After Another, won Best Picture on March 15th, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences issued a public statement condemning the guard’s actions. (You can see photos of all the celebrities who attended the award show, which was hosted by Conan O’Brien, here.)

I was absolutely devastated to hear what Teyana Taylor went through after the Oscars! The Academy actually put out a statement, and honestly, it just confirmed what everyone already knows: Teyana has been incredible all awards season. They’ve been working with her for months, and they said she’s been amazing – so supportive, kind, and always thinking about bringing people together. It just makes what happened even worse, knowing how wonderful she is!

While the issue involved our security company, SIS, we take full responsibility for ensuring all our guests have a positive experience. We’ve told SIS that their actions were unacceptable.

Oh my gosh, the Academy finally said something! They basically thanked Teyana for being so unbelievably classy through everything, and promised they’re actually doing something to make sure this never happens again. I mean, it’s about time, right? I’m just so relieved they acknowledged her grace and are finally taking action. It doesn’t fix things, but it’s a start, and I’m holding them to it!

Security Industry Specialists, Inc. (SIS) stated that a security team member had a short encounter with Ms. Taylor.

As a lifestyle and event expert, I’ve always said creating a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone is paramount. Recently, we had a situation where our security team was managing a particularly crowded space, and unfortunately, there was some accidental contact with a guest. We’re truly sorry things escalated from there. Let me assure you, that’s not the level of service we aim for, and we’ve already taken steps internally to review what happened and reinforce our standards so this doesn’t repeat itself. We’re committed to providing a positive experience for all our guests.

Although the incident wasn’t shown on the Oscars broadcast, a video taken by someone inside the Dolby Theatre and shared online shows Teyana Taylor confronting the security guard involved.

“You’re a man putting your hands on a female,” she told him. “You’re very rude.”

Despite losing the Best Supporting Actress award to Amy Madigan from Weapons, the 35-year-old remained upbeat and wasn’t discouraged.

You know, after everything that happened, I just want everyone to know we were all having a great time! Honestly, security was a little overzealous, and there’s always someone who overreacts, but I’m completely okay and really happy with how the night went.

Despite losing the Best Supporting Actress award to Amy Madigan from Weapons, the 35-year-old remained cheerful.

Teyana told TMZ that everything was okay after what happened. She said everyone was enjoying themselves, and security was just being extra cautious. She acknowledged there’s always someone who causes a problem, but she was doing well and feeling happy.

As other people at the event began enjoying the snacks provided with Conan O’Brien’s approval, Taylor was congratulating the casting director of One Battle After Another for making history by winning the very first Academy Award for Best Casting.

I was so excited to see another delivery from our mysterious host! This time, along with the goodies, was a note. It said they hoped I’d enjoy this ‘Moderately Happy Meal’ – a hilarious name, honestly! They joked that even though the snacks didn’t look like much, they’d easily cost eighty-five dollars at the movies. It’s such a fun little touch and I’m loving this whole thing!

The actor known for his role in Frankenstein, who was nominated for an Oscar for the first time as Best Supporting Actor, was busy attending various awards events.

Losing the Best Supporting Actor Oscar to Sean Penn didn’t dampen the Sentimental Value star’s spirits.

Afterward, while having a drink in a VIP section, Skarsgård mentioned to a fan, according to the Los Angeles Times, that their film had received four acting nominations, which was a first for an international movie.

Not to mention, the Joaquim Trier-directed Norwegian film was named Best International Feature.

Cue the body language experts to decipher what, exactly, Pascal just saw on his phone.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by stories that break the mold, and the win for ‘Two People Exchanging Saliva’ was definitely one of those moments! It’s incredibly rare, but they actually tied for Best Live Action Short with ‘The Singers,’ a fantastic film produced by Jack Piatt and directed by Sam A. Davis. It just goes to show you, sometimes there isn’t one single ‘best’ – just two equally brilliant pieces of art!

The winners celebrated enthusiastically backstage with their Oscars, and the more people joining the fun, the better!

Piatt told reporters he jokingly wished all the nominees could have tied, creating a five-way tie.

After winning Best Actor, he briefly enjoyed a private moment with his Oscar statue before celebrating with a trip to In-N-Out Burger on his way to the after-party.

Whoever has the longest reach is typically responsible for taking selfies, and tonight that job fell to the partner of Best Actress nominee, Hudson.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Nicole Kidman just walked by me, heading to her seat, and then… then she accidentally ended up in someone else’s photo! It was the most amazing, hilarious photo bomb ever! She was totally unaware, and it just made my night. I can’t stop thinking about it!
