After winning a Golden Globe for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Television Movie, Stephen Graham, one of the creators of Netflix’s Adolescence, is discussing future plans. Adolescence was originally designed as a four-episode limited series and premiered on March 13, 2025.
Dev Patel won an award for his performance in Adolescence and also co-created the series with Jack Thorne. Patel hinted at a possible second season of the popular Netflix show while speaking to reporters backstage at the Golden Globes on January 11th.
Following the arrest of his 13-year-old son, Jamie (played by Owen Cooper), who is accused of murder, Cooper also received a Golden Globe award for his performance as Jamie Miller. After the Globes ceremony, Graham was asked if there were plans for another season of the show, Adolescence.
Graham explained he doesn’t have an answer right now, as the information is currently held between him and Jack, and they plan to share it publicly in three to four years. He encouraged people to wait for the reveal.
The show Adolescence was a big winner at the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards, taking home eight awards in September, including the prize for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. That same month, the show’s creator, Thorne, discussed its future, and at the time, it appeared Adolescence would only have one season.
Another Update Was Given Last Fall
Thorne has indicated that the story of ‘The Miller’ is likely finished, but the show’s unique technique – filming each episode in a single, continuous shot – might be revisited in a future project. He explained they’re exploring how to use this technique differently, possibly focusing on a new team or storyline. While they’re discussing possibilities, they haven’t yet found a definitive plan, but remain interested in finding a way to implement it again.
He explained that it felt like they’d completed Jamie’s storyline, sharing everything they intended to. While people suggested exploring Katie’s point of view, he questioned whether they were the best ones to tell her story.
The series Adolescence has received high praise from critics and boasts a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Viewers have also given it a strong score of 74%, and it’s currently available to stream on Netflix.
