Apple TV+’s new show is premiering soon! Apple TV just released an exciting first look at the series, ahead of its February 27th debut.
The first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premiered on November 17, 2023. The series is continuing to do well, just like Legendary’s MonsterVerse, and has been renewed for a second season two years after its initial release.
The latest preview shows the epic Titan battles are escalating! Not only does it feature both Godzilla and Kong, but it also reveals a new, enigmatic Titan called Titan X.
Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters focuses on Titan X, described not just as a monster, but as a devastating event come to life. Its enormous, glowing appearance emerging from the ocean is depicted as a moment that stops the world in its tracks.
This new creature is at the heart of the puzzle – a powerful, ancient force rising from the depths. We don’t know what it wants, but its strength is unlike anything we’ve ever seen, inspiring both wonder and fear.
Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell will both be back for another season, even after the dramatic ending of Season 1. They’ll be joined by returning cast members Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm. New faces joining the show include Takehiro Hira, Amber Midthunder, Curtiss Cook, Cliff Curtis, Dominique Tipper, and Camilo Jiménez Varón. The second season will have 10 episodes, released weekly on Fridays from February 27th to May 1st.
I was completely hooked by Season 1! It followed these two siblings on a really intriguing journey to figure out their family’s link to this mysterious group, Monarch, who are basically tracking monsters. The story jumps between different points in time, all after the events of the Godzilla movie from 2024. And now, I’m so excited for Season 2! It looks like everything is on the line for Monarch, and the adventure is taking them to Kong’s Skull Island – which they hinted at in the first teaser, and honestly, it looks incredible!
The story will feature a brand new, enigmatic village and the emergence of a legendary Titan from the ocean. Past events will continue to impact the present, creating confusion and shifting relationships between allies and enemies, all while the danger of another Titan attack looms.
The MonsterVerse Keeps Thriving
Despite being a bit of a surprise success, the first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was very well-received. Critics loved it, giving it an 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences also enjoyed it with a score of 77%. Because the show did so well, Apple TV and Legendary Entertainment are now creating a new spin-off series.
News about a new series featuring Colonel Lee Shaw was officially announced in mid-December. The show will explore Shaw’s early life, and Kurt Russell will portray an older version of the character. While the series doesn’t have a title yet, Joby Harold is set to lead the project.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 debuts on Feb. 27 on Apple TV.
