It’s been a busy week for PlayStation console updates, and now PS3 owners can also download a new firmware update.
The PlayStation 5 got a graphics upgrade designed specifically for the PS5 Pro, the PS Portal handheld saw improvements to its visuals and cloud streaming, and a patch for the PS4 fixed issues with messaging. But the update for the PS3 is much less impressive.
Here’s the single patch note for PS3 firmware update 4.93:
- This system software update improves system performance.
Sony hasn’t made any significant changes to the console since May 2022, when firmware update 4.89 was released. The four updates since then, including this latest one, have all focused on simply improving the console’s performance – and they’ve all said the exact same thing in their update notes.
