I, like so many others, loved growing up with Back to the Future. It was one of the defining movies of the 80s and I’ve rewatched it countless times. I’d never had the chance to see it in a movie theater, so when it was re-released in 2025, I finally went. Seeing it with an audience gave me a completely new perspective, and I noticed a different character really stood out this time around.

I’ve Seen Back To The Future Many Times, And Marty Has Always Been My Favorite Character
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this fantastic time travel movie! It still holds up incredibly well, feels like a classic, and I never tire of rewatching Marty McFly’s adventure. I’ve always been a fan of Michael J. Fox, and he’s utterly charming in this film.
Out of all the actors in Back to the Future, I’ve always been drawn to Michael J. Fox. He’s both funny and incredibly likeable, and it’s always fun to watch him deal with life in the 1950s.
The story is seen through Marty’s eyes, and Michael J. Fox’s performance – particularly how he responds to the strange events unfolding around him – really drives the plot. Because of this, he’s always been the most memorable part of the movie for me, even on previous viewings.
He’s incredibly clumsy, which makes his reactions to the 1950s really funny. Plus, he has a natural charm that’s captivating. And, let’s be honest, he’s attractive! But the cast is full of talented people, as expected. This time, though, I was more fascinated by the character who created time travel, rather than the one who actually traveled through it.

Seeing It In Theaters, Christopher Lloyd’s Doc Brown Absolutley Stole The Show
I recently had the chance to see Back to the Future in theaters again for its 40th anniversary. What made it special wasn’t just seeing it on the big screen, but sharing the experience with an audience. Hearing everyone laugh and react together really enhanced the movie for me.
Let me tell you, whenever Christopher Lloyd delivered one of Doc Brown’s classic lines, or even just had one of his wonderfully quirky reactions, the audience absolutely erupted. It was amazing! Honestly, those moments really highlighted just how fantastic his performance was, and it drew me into his character’s journey even more. It made me really focus on what he was going through.
I’ve always thought Doc Brown was hilarious, but this time watching Back to the Future, he was even funnier than usual. Perhaps it was the larger screen, allowing me to better see his expressions, or maybe it was the energy of the audience laughing along. Either way, it was a fantastic performance – he really delivers a masterclass in comedy in this movie.
I found his little, goofy actions particularly funny this time, like when he walked straight into school and stepped over a bike instead of going around it. It really highlights how even his smallest decisions are both significant and amusing.
Interestingly, Doc’s emotional scenes resonated with me much more this time around. The final scene set in the 1950s, where Marty tries to get him to read the letter, is incredibly moving and reveals a lot about the character without him needing to say much. It’s both tragic and beautiful.
I absolutely loved watching Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future – he was the standout performance for me. I’ve always been a fan of Doc Brown; I even randomly shout out his lines like ‘1.21 gigawatts!’ or think about ‘Where we’re going, we don’t need roads’ when I travel. But even though Doc is hilarious, Marty McFly has always been the character I connected with the most.
Things have shifted, and I’m really looking forward to watching Back to the Future again to see how my perspective on it changes over time.
