Despite some leaks, delays, and an early rating appearing online, Cold Iron Studios has officially announced Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. IGN will reveal the game tomorrow, May 7th, at 8:30 AM Pacific Time / 11:30 AM Eastern Time.
The trailer’s preview image shows exactly what you’d expect: lots of Xenomorphs, some weapons we’ve seen before – like the Thunderbolt Mk. 2 Autocannon – and a group of Marines clearly facing a tough fight.
As a big fan of the first Aliens: Fireteam Elite, I’m really excited about the sequel! It’s another third-person shooter where you team up to fight off waves of Xenomorphs. I saw a leaked document that suggested the campaign might take around 8 to 12 hours to finish, and you can play it with a friend. Plus, they’re supposedly shaking up the classic Horde Mode with something called ‘Annihilation,’ which sounds awesome!
It’s unlikely the character customization from the first game will be back. Instead, the developers seem to be focusing on a set of five pre-made characters. A preview image suggests what these characters will look like, and reports indicate each one has their own special skills and weapons.
Okay, so I just saw that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is officially coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC! They haven’t given us a firm release date yet, but it’s looking like we might get our hands on it sometime this summer. I’m keeping an eye out for more news, and if you’re curious about the first game, you can check out my review of Aliens: Fireteam Elite in the meantime.
Tune in tomorrow for the official trailer of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2! We’re excited to share the first look at the sequel to the popular cooperative shooter. The trailer will premiere at 11:30am Eastern Time / 8:30am Pacific Time on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/bISGUJn3sSk
