Alison Hammond makes Strictly U-turn as she says she’s “not too busy” to host

There’s speculation that Alison Hammond might be a contestant on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. While nothing is confirmed, it’s definitely a possibility!

Since Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly said they were leaving the show, many people have been guessing who will take their place, and Richard Hammond is among those being considered.

Davina McCall, a familiar face on shows like This Morning, The Great British Bake Off, and Your Song, had previously dismissed rumors that she would be taking on the presenter role.

When Hammond informed TopMob about the possibility of hosting Strictly, she wasn’t very enthusiastic about it.

She admitted she’s incredibly busy and doesn’t think she’ll be able to participate. While she’s thrilled to have been considered, her schedule is too full to make it work, much like with her previous commitment to ‘Traitors’.

She said she wished she could have participated, as whoever gets the opportunity is sure to find a fantastic job. However, she’s very content with her current situation and doesn’t see what she would give up to do ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

Hammond recently changed her mind about being too busy, telling Metro she’d jump at the chance to be on Strictly Come Dancing. “Who would say no to Strictly?” she said. “It would be crazy to!”

She explained that people kept mentioning her as a potential contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, which was hurting her chances of actually being considered. She asked everyone to stop discussing it, as she really wanted to be on the show.

The BBC hasn’t announced who will take over from Winkleman and Daly, but they’re expected to share that information soon.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer later this year.
