Fans of dark fantasy are in luck – one of the genre’s best TV spinoffs, Angel, is currently available to stream for free. Streaming services are great for revisiting beloved shows and movies, but it can be frustrating when content disappears and reappears on different platforms. Luckily, that also means hidden gems sometimes get a second chance, and Angel is the latest classic to benefit from this.
You can now watch all five seasons of Angel, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff, on Tubi for free. The show, which follows a vampire detective in Los Angeles, became available on the streaming service May 1st.
Angel Took Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Universe in a Fresh New Direction
You can now watch all five seasons of Angel on Tubi. This dark fantasy show began as a spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, continuing the story after Angel leaves Sunnydale. David Boreanaz plays Angel, a vampire burdened with a soul, who starts a detective agency in Los Angeles to help people facing supernatural dangers. The series follows his complicated relationship with Wolfram & Hart, a law firm that represents demons, and ultimately builds towards a catastrophic apocalypse.
Charisma Carpenter, known for her role on Buffy, joined the cast. The show also featured new characters like Alexis Denisof (who previously appeared on Buffy), J. August Richards as Gunn, and Amy Acker as Fred. Later, James Marsters, another Buffy alum, joined as Spike. Unlike Buffy, this series moved away from teenage themes and focused on a more mature battle between good and evil.
I was completely hooked on this show, but it was so frustrating when The WB decided to cancel it. Joss Whedon had to rush the final season, and honestly, the ending was amazing – it hinted at the apocalypse, but a lot of people didn’t quite get it! Luckily, the story didn’t really end there – it continued in comic books. And now, thanks to Tubi, either longtime fans like me can rewatch everything, or new viewers can discover this incredible series for free. It’s a fantastic opportunity!
Fans of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe have even more to celebrate! Not only was the planned reboot canceled, but all seven seasons of Buffy and five seasons of Angel are now available to stream for free on Tubi. That’s a lot of viewing for anyone with time to spare!
