Two decades after its initial release, the classic game Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater has been remade, but despite the update, it maintains many of its original characteristics. Noteworthily, the locations of collectibles within each level may have shifted from their positions remembered from years ago. In this guide, we will be discussing the collectibles found in the level named Chyornyj>.
The remade version of Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater, first released over 20 years ago, has similarities to its original form in many ways. However, some items you found in levels before may no longer be in their original spots. This guide will cover the collectibles in the level called Chyornyj>.
All Kerotans & Ga-kos Chyornyj in Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater
Upon getting to the petite marshland in Chyornyj, you’ll notice that most of the items are clustered in compact spots either on or close to land. As soon as you step into this area, take a look around the ground and you’ll likely spot many of the animals inhabiting this place, including snakes and frogs.
In addition, you’ll find some non-collectible items such as a smoke grenade scattered in a particular corner of the water. While these aren’t essential for your collection, it might be useful to retrieve them during your exploration since you’ll eventually need to progress deeper into the area where the actual “secrets” are located.
To locate the ‘Ga-ko’ and ‘Kerotan’ on this map, kindly have a look at the image provided for precise positions. They share a small corner of the map, but keep in mind there’s a special note: they are situated nearby, yet distinct.
The Ga-ko, with its distinctive shape, is hard to miss as it perches atop a branch over the water. Its duck-like figure standing out against the tree makes it quite conspicuous. On the other hand, the Kerotan can be found submerged underwater. If you dive where the Ga-ko is spotted, and look near the base of the tree, that’s where you’ll find the Kerotan hiding.
The Ga-ko is easily noticed, as it lounges on a branch high above the water, its duck-like appearance making it hard to overlook against the surrounding trees. In contrast, the Kerotan can be found below the surface of the water. To find it, dive beneath where you see the Ga-ko and search near the base of the tree – that’s where you’ll likely find your Kerotan.

Moreover, that’s about it for this stage. You’ll also come across a GA-KO camouflage hiding in the northeastern part of the marsh. Keep an eye out for it as it’s partially submerged in the shallow water there. Just explore around the area where Snake is shown on the map above.
