Amazon’s Cloud Gaming Service, Luna, Receives an Overhaul in a Bid to Bring Back Players

Amazon is significantly updating its cloud-gaming service, Luna, with changes designed to attract more players. In a recent blog post, the company explained that this update will allow Prime members to play games just like they stream videos on Prime Video or listen to music on Amazon Music.

Amazon Luna first became available in 2022, but it didn’t gain much traction at that time. This redesign is Amazon’s way to improve the service and attract both returning and new players.

What are the Changes Players Can Expect?

To get a clear idea of what this major update offers, let’s examine the improvements players can expect.

Initially, this update is designed to offer Amazon Prime members more attractive perks, whether they enjoy gaming or not. Currently, access to a large library of games requires a subscription to Luna Premium.

Jeff Gattis, general manager of Amazon Luna, explained, “We’re naming it the all-new Amazon Luna because it has been completely rebuilt and redesigned from its core.”

So, Amazon’s really stepping up its game! They’re trying to give Prime members like me more options without having to shell out extra cash. Basically, we’re gonna get access to some cool titles – I’m talking games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Hogwarts Legacy, TopSpin 2K25, and a whole bunch more. It’s awesome!

We’re also thrilled to introduce GameNight, a set of fun, social party games that lets many people play together without needing controllers. All you need is a smartphone – your friends and family simply scan a QR code to start playing!

The main attraction of the GameNight lineup is Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg, a game where your goal is to prove your innocence to Snoop Dogg by shifting the blame onto your fellow players. Here are some of the other games that will be part of the collection:

  • Angry Birds
  • Clue
  • Draw & Guess
  • Exploding Kittens
  • Falppy Golf Party
  • Taboo
  • Ticket to Ride

Amazon Luna is getting a redesigned user interface. It hasn’t had major changes since it first launched in 2022, so these updates will make it look completely new and modern.

Considering all the significant updates heading to Amazon Luna in the near future, I’m feeling somewhat hopeful. However, it remains to be seen if Amazon Luna will actually grab the interest of gamers.
