Mike Hopkins, head of Amazon MGM Studios, recently discussed the next James Bond films on the Variety podcast Strictly Business. He emphasized the importance of assembling a top-tier creative team. “Our first priority was to find the best people to create this new story and chapter for Bond,” Hopkins explained. He’s confident they’ve achieved that with Denis Villeneuve, Amy Pascal, David Heyman, and Steven Knight—a ‘world-class storytelling team’—all collaborating on the project.

Steven Knight is the writer behind Eastern Promises and the creator of the popular series Peaky Blinders. Hopkins also explained they’re working to determine how to evolve the James Bond franchise to stay appealing to audiences for years to come. He described the project as being in its very early stages, like only halfway through the first inning of a baseball game, meaning there’s still a lot of development ahead.

Whoever gets the part needs to be young enough to play 007 for many films – likely four or five.
