There were concerns the Amazon Tomb Raider TV series might be cancelled, but it’s still moving forward and will likely play a significant role in the future of the franchise. Amazon plans to connect the show with upcoming Tomb Raider video games, creating a shared storyline across different platforms. To generate excitement, they’re bringing in well-known actors: Sophie Turner, famous for Game of Thrones, will star as Lara Croft, and she’ll be joined by veteran actress Sigourney Weaver. It’s currently unknown if Turner will also play Lara Croft in the games.
Sources at Deadline report that Jane Weaver is being considered for a currently unknown role in the upcoming Tomb Raider TV series. While a deal isn’t finalized yet, this kind of news often suggests an agreement is close. The show is currently finishing up casting as it prepares to begin filming in January.
