I’ve noticed Andrew Garfield has always worked with great actors, but this new movie, ‘After the Hunt,’ is different. He finally gets to share the screen with a true icon – Julia Roberts! It’s exciting to see him working with someone so legendary.
The new drama, directed by Luca Guadagnino (known for *Call Me By Your Name* and *Challengers*), features actors Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Ayo Edebiri. The story centers around a complicated situation sparked when Edebiri’s character, a Yale PhD student, accuses her professor (O’Connor) of sexual assault.
Roberts delivers a compelling performance as a professor grappling with a past mystery, a complicated relationship with Garfield’s character, and the pressures of securing a permanent position. These factors combine to create a fascinating and relevant story that sparks important conversations.
He shared that one of his all-time favorite film scenes was the one with Julia in the bar, right before the chaos begins. He especially liked how efficiently it was filmed – with just two camera setups and possibly only one take for each.
He described simply being with her – feeling close, happy, and like best friends – as a little slice of heaven, even if it only lasted a few moments.
I just wanted to capture the moment and be able to look back on it. I know I’ll probably watch it repeatedly over the years and remember what a special time it was.

Edebiri, known for her roles in films like Bottoms and Opus, was delighted to collaborate with Roberts, calling it an “amazing” and “wonderful” opportunity.
She’s incredibly generous with her spirit,” she said. “This situation is both delicate and challenging, but she consistently maintained a calm and positive attitude.
Working with someone you really admire can be nerve-wracking. But when they show up and are just as enthusiastic and willing to work hard as everyone else, it’s a huge relief. It puts you at ease and lets you focus on the task at hand, because there’s no room for anything else to distract you.
